Review: The Parkwood Boutique Hotel
Durbanite recently had the opportunity to review the Parkwood Boutique Hotel.
This little slice of heaven is located in Rosebank and is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway.
Johannesburg is not your typical holiday destination, it has a reputation of being a dry, “trafficky” concrete jungle. But after this trip I find myself wanting to convince people otherwise.
There is so much to do and see, but I think the real reason our trip was special was the relaxed stylish atmosphere of the hotel!
We were warmly greeted on arrival and our bags were taken to our room. We walked in and were amazed at the spacious beautiful lay out.
The open plan room consisted of a small lounge area, king sized bed framed by a stone wall separating the Bathroom, the only closed off area was the loo. The bathroom was one of my favourite features with a large shower and a jet bathtub with walk in cupboard space for days. And as if one shower wasn’t enough, guests can make use of an outside shower in the enclosed garden patio area.
The private garden patio was the perfect place to warm up in the winter sun. We sipped port and admired the magnificent stonework walls that were hand crafted by gifted stonesman, Daniel Nyalungu.
The modern environment is tastefully decorated, the property boasts two garden areas, both have a long rectangle pool and comfortable seating areas to enjoy a cup of tea and unwind in an urban sanctuary.
In the evening, twinkling fairy lights dance around the Parkwood, I think that no matter how old you get, fairy lights always create a sense of magic.
In the morning we helped ourselves to a buffet of yogurt, fruit and cereals before being served a scrumptious homemade breakfast. We were grateful for the fire lit in the open plan dining room on the chilly Joburg morning.
Overall our stay at The Parkwood Boutique Hotel was definitely one to remember.
Thank you Sarah Shonfeld and the team for making us feel at home and ensuring our stay was incredible!
If you are looking for somewhere to stay on your next visit to the City of Gold, then we can highly recommend checking in to The Parkwood Boutique Hotel.
