The Royal Show: 24th May – 2nd June

The Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg is host to the annual Royal Show, it stretches over two weekends (generally 10 days) and draws in an average attendance of around 220 000.

This agricultural show/fair incorporates entertainment and market style vibes and this year will be host to some pretty awesome bands including Toya Delazy, Die Heuwels Fantasties and the Graham Watkins Project (to name a few). The SANDF paratroopers will be entertaining from the skies performing skydiving stunts and while on the topic of stunts the FMX motorbike crew will be demonstrating a few of their own.

The Royal Show is expecting to have over 2000 live stock on site, some of which will be competing for 1st prize as their owners proudly showcase their best. An equestrian and canine program will also be running and the KwaZulu-Natal Bee Farmers Association on behalf of the Royal Agricultural Society will be showcasing their honeys at The Honey Hall – sweet!

There is so much more to see and do, from the provinces largest funfair, firework displays, craft and home industries as well as the eastern bazaar; there is something for all – young and old.
