Giving Back with Toyota 86/BRZ Car Club

Our Durbnanite contributor, Melissa Moodley had good things to say about her recent experience with the Toyota 86/BRZ KZN Club all in aid of giving back with the ECR Toy Story initiative.

“It was a fast paced morning, which started off racing to our meet-up point in Blue Lagoon at 9am, and obviously we stuck to the speed limit as we were driving there. Once there, we had a great opportunity to meet the members of the famous Toyota 86/BRZ KZN Owners Group, as well as a little walk around to look at the stylish Toyota 86s and Subaru BRZs. Not only are these cars loud, they look pretty slick as well!

To give you all a bit of background, the Toyota 86/BRZ KZN Owners Group is a car club made up of Toyota 86s and Subaru BRZs.

Their main principle as a car club, is to always give back to the less fortunate each year.

They have never failed to disappoint and seem to go bigger each time. They partnered up with Toyota Westville and collected toys for the 2017 East Coast Radio Toy Story. Each person brought a toy to put in the East Coast Radio Toy Story box.

Back to Blue Lagoon – once all the car club owners have arrived, we all got ready to sit in the cars and headed off to Toyota Westville for the event itself. Let’s not get talking about the driving with these beasts – if you like speed, then this is definitely a car club to look out for! We finally arrived at the Toyota Westville dealership where all the car club drivers were welcomed to a massive braai set-up all sponsored by Toyota themselves. The cars then got to park in their spaces where, all the drivers were able to go check out the other cars in the dealership, socialise with other drivers, eat all the braai meat and be festive!

Once all that meat had been digested, it was time to put those toys in the big yellow box. Needless to say, that big box was not enough, as another box needed to be included in the mixture as there was too many toys to donate!

The festive period is definitely all about giving, and the Toyota 86/BRZ KZN Owners Group definitely achieved that, by bringing in a lot more than they did last year. A very big thank you to Toyota Westville for sponsoring this successful toy run event and lastly, a very big well done to all the members of the Toyota 86/BRZ KZN Owners Group for their contribution as they have definitely put a smile on a lot of children’s faces this year.
