Disney On Ice

“I’m disappointed that I wasn’t disappointed.”

These were the words spoken to me by my pre-teen son after we watched the 2019 installation of the Disney on Ice show. I understand him completely.

Obviously, I was thrilled to get free tickets as I knew that my little ones would definitely enjoy the experience. And I would revel in watching their faces light up. But I expected to be numbed by the onslaught of, what’s the right word? Disneyness.

I was wrong.

This only became apparent once we had made our way passed the inflated paraphernalia prices though.

The show itself was an absolute delight. Ariel, the Little Mermaid opened up, followed by Rapunzel, Belle from Beauty and the Beast and of course, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and the lovable snowman, Olaf, from Frozen. What would an ice show be without Frozen? My guess is damp. All of this linked together by Mickey and the gang.

Yes, that is a lot of anticipated Disneyness. However it’s the professionalism of the whole show, the skating, lighting, props and pyrotechnics which really shines and helps to make sure that this is a great evening out for the whole family.
