Where the Mountains Decide
On the border of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape lies a race that refuses to be ordinary. The Ingeli Mountain Marathon is wild, raw, and beautifully unforgiving — a journey through some of the most untouched terrain in South Africa.
This is not a route built for comfort. It’s built for runners who crave adventure.
From narrow forest single track to steep mountain climbs, rolling jeep track to wide-open grasslands, every kilometre brings a new challenge. The terrain is relentless, the climbs are demanding, and the descents will test tired legs and steady focus.
Yet, between the suffering, Ingeli reveals its magic.
Ancient forests whisper in the mist. Clear mountain streams cut through the valleys. Wetlands shimmer in the morning light, and high ridgelines open to sweeping views that make you forget the effort — if only for a moment.
Over 40km, runners will conquer a staggering 1,997m of climbing, including one of the highest peaks in the Ingeli range. This is a race for those who embrace the tough days, chase big mountains, and find joy in the grind.
The mountain is waiting.
