VODACOM DURBAN JULY – Funseason
All roads lead to Durban during this Funseason, as the City braces itself for yet another wave of major events during the Vodacom Durban July week.
The Vodacom Durban July is Durban’s Funseason anchor event and this year it promises to be a bang, with more events lined up for the entire week leading to the Durban July and beyond. The Head of Durban Tourism, Philip Sithole says the City expects to make no less than R1 bn during the Durban July week and they are expecting about 2 million visitors to the Durban, which will see thee hotel occupancy rate averaging at 85% to capacity. “We are very optimistic about this year’s Funseason campaign and we are confident that we will exceed even our own expectations in terms of revenue projections and visitor turnout. If you look at the number of major events that we have hosted in recent times, you can see that indeed Durban was the place to go.”

The city has lined up a variety of events to ensure all our visitors get to experience our warm hospitality, unique culture and amazing talent.”
Visitors to Durban will be spoilt for choice, with a range a major events including the Pre-parties like the Ultimate Pool Party at ushaka Marine World , to After Parties like Fact Durban Rocks, Mother of all Parties and not forgetting a multitude of lifestyle events at various township hotspots, like Artizen Lounge, Maxs Lifestyle and Eyadini. “Events of this magnitude are integral for the City of Durban as it significantly boosts our economy, the hospitality industry and job creation.”
The City is expecting over 55 000 visitor arrivals that will be well dispersed throughout the city of Durban and beyond and almost R370 million economic benefits to the city and almost 940 temporary and sustained jobs. “We trust that all our visitors enjoy The Durban Fun Season and have the most memorable experience in the City that will be the spotlight of Africa over the July Fever Weekend,” explained Sithole.
