The Black Information Technology Forum: Golf Day
As part of their continuous fundraising strategy, The Black Information Technology Forum (BITF): KZN Chapter recently hosted their inaugural Golf Day at Mount Edgecombe Country Club Golf with over 84 golfers participating.
Over R200 000 was raised which will be used for their organisations various outreach programmes, addressing the poor representation of the previously disadvantaged in the IT industry, as well as to improve access to technology in disadvantaged communities and empower those with skills in this arena.
Corporates, Vodacom, SITA, Mustek, Omega, Gijima, Tarsus, HP and Atom Gate amongst others, lent their support not only on the day but also to their various outreach programmes that the forum is involved in.
Qiniso Mazubane, Membership and Marketing Executive said, “We were overwhelmed and extremely pleased with the response and pledges received from the various organizations. We are looking forward to the new financial year pertaining to our various projects together with all our members and partners.” We are also pleased to announce that this will now become one our annual flagship events going forward,” he added.
The BITF deputy chairperson, Dasen Moodley also added his thoughts; “As we build towards next year’s fundraiser we still welcome all those who wants to take part in what we are doing. We want a more involved industry that understands the needs of South Africa, over and above just their needs to make profit. We will take it upon ourselves to use the right platforms in order to support transformation in the KZN ICT sector.”
