The Bay Atlantic Guest House Review
If ever you are visiting Cape Town, we recommend to stay at the amazing The Bay Atlantic Guest House for your Durbanite getaway. We sent two of our contributors to review the finest places to stay in the Mother City.
“We were fortunate enough to stay at the stunning 4-star The Bay Atlantic Guest House, situated in one of the world’s most sought after locations – Camps Bay. Just 150 meters from Camps Bay beach, rated as one of the top 10 beaches in the world (UK Sunday Times) and best local beach (South African Sunday Times). You will find four individually decorated en-suites plus a private penthouse on the second floor all of which have been designed for the comfort and convenience of the guests. Each suite is individually appointed to create a feeling of understated luxury.
We stayed in the penthouse suite, which had the most incredible view of the ocean with the mountain as the backdrop. At night, it was even more surreal as the mist settled down around the mountains.
The bedroom itself was spacious, with an equipped air-con/heater. Staying in the suite, this meant that it truly felt like a holiday apartment – with an accompanying private lounge and balcony, you were made to feel right at home!
Upon arrival, check-in was ever so easy – we arrived early not expecting our room to be ready, and to our surprise, it was all prepared! The staff took extra attention to provide welcome snacks/sweets which was beautifully presented in the bedroom.
Because it was April/May which meant it was nearing Winter, we didn’t bring any swimwear. We were dying to jump into the large blue pool beside the guest house! – All the more reason to visit again.
Breakfast – we helped ourselves to an assortment of fruit and cereal while we had a choice of eggs or an omelette with unlimited toppings. The breakfast view was amazing, with a wide window showcasing the whole of Camps Bay.
For dinner, we walked down the road to where there were a whole bunch of restaurants. We dined at a beautiful place, and afterwards took a quick stroll along the Camps Bay beachfront. Knowing that the guesthouse was just up the road made the whole experience pleasant, as we didn’t have to worry about catching a lift back.
All in all, the staff were extremely helpful, the owner was very friendly (with a few interesting stories to tell) and we truly felt relaxed and at home! A definite recommendation to stay at this place when you visit Cape Town!”
