EVERYONE LOVES THE I HEART SALE MARKET

Published

on

Durban’s iconic I heart Market is a welcoming space for fans to spend a morning outdoors with friends, browsing over 100 stalls filled with hand and homemade goodies, produced right here in South Africa.

This Spring, the I heart Market vendors will be doing a Spring Clean of their own, as they put all their best sellers on sale, giving shoppers a chance to really enjoy some of their favourite products at some seriously low prices.

I heart SPRING SALE Market takes place twice a year; September and February and it is an exciting day out for everyone involved. “The I heart SPRING SALE Market gives vendors an opportunity to offer their customers great deals with bargain bins, sale rails and special offers on their end of range items and older stock,” says Anna Savage, founder of the I heart Market.

The I heart SPRING SALE is a highlight of the year, both for our vendors and the shoppers. It’s a super exciting market with people arriving in throngs, and some of Durban’s finest creatives offering exceptional and well-made products for less. There’s a thrill that comes with discovering a beautiful item and then getting it at a fraction of the price.”

From fresh foods to local fashion, children’s toys and clothing to homeware, décor, jewellery and treats for every taste; the I heart SPRING SALE Market takes place on Saturday the 1st of September and trades from 9am – 2pm.

I Heart Market

There’s a great buzz in the marquees as traders and shoppers negotiate special deals and prices; while others search for that special gem they’ve been coveting. Understandably, sales items go very quickly so get there early, grab your coffee and shop ‘til your hearts content.

Unlike a typical flea market, the I heart Market is not a place you come to find a bargain, but rather to discover beautiful, bespoke items and support local entrepreneurs and crafters,” says Anna. “We realized that it was important for us to channel any discounts into a specific Sale Market in order to maintain our reputation as one of Durban’s’ premium craft markets. That way our customers can look forward to finding great deals twice a year, and they can expect a top-class market showcasing Durban’s incredible makers for the rest of the year.”

If you can’t make this I heart SALE Market, be sure to catch their next SALE Market on 2nd February 2019 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban.

Field Notes (an exhibition)
Presented by Contemporary Archive Project
Opening: 1 November 2024 at 6 PM
Venue: The Chairman, Durban.

In the province of KwaZulu-Natal, stories are marked like pins scattered across a map. These pins cluster in the city of eThekwini or are more sparsely spread through the landscapes of Nquthu, Tugela, and Amaotana. By mapping out and noting where the photographs were made, the explorers’ tracks reveal a wide, eclectic range of stories, each reflecting individual narratives. In these collections, the photographers are the explorers of their own stories, presenting clips and field notes that present an Insider’s view.

Subverting old tropes of Outsiders looking in, disconnected from a culture or space, the photographs that make this exhibition present intimate representations of faith and religion, culture and rituals, life and death, solitude and community. The collective way of seeing a city and space are all informed by each photographer’s way of seeing.
In this gathering, we present moments from each photographer’s archive. Guided by the visual connections of the photographs, the exhibition’s content invites you to reflect on the themes of fragility, power, togetherness, and the significance of the spaces we call home.

The group exhibition features work from CAP’s archive, inclusive of:
Andile Ndunge, Andre Swart, Mandisa Buthelezi, Myllo Menorah, Niamh Walsh-Vorster, Paulo Menezes, Robyn Perros, Seraz Abrahams, Sibusiso Gcaba, and Thobani Khumalo.
This exhibition is made possible by the National Lotteries Commission.

Welcome to this year’s powerhouse of local and global design concepts, all collated for you to Create a Happy Home. Come and Discover KZN Design, where local is king – a hand-picked collective of exciting artists, crafters and entrepreneurs, producing dynamic, world-class work right on our doorstep. From unique ceramic pieces to iconic artwork, you’ll want to take one home.

The Show loves to showcase local, but global always gets a big look-in. Whether it’s our favourite demonstrators conjuring up international aromas, flavours and recipes in the madly popular Hirsch Test Kitchen, or the thrill of mind-blowing technology advances as Hirsch’s parades good-looking appliances and very cool gadgets.

We go glocal, too, with glorious colour and decor trends in Plascon’s Showrooms, where we put an up-and-coming interior design agency in the spotlight using two of the latest colour palettes. We lust after the exquisite custom-made Barbet Interiors furniture, and plot how to make one of those pieces our very own.  It’s all about dreaming and scheming at the East Coast Radio House + Garden Show 2024 – and we provide all the stuff of dreams!

The East Coast Radio House + Garden Show is sponsored by Plascon with Durban Tourism as destination partners.

I heart Market – February Sale Market Saturday 3 February: 9am – 2pm

Published

on

February is the month of love and the I heart Market will celebrate with its traditional bi-annual “sale” market on Saturday 3 February from 9am to 2pm at  Northlands Primary School, in Durban North.

Following two busy and packed festive season markets in its new home at Northlands Primary School, which was well received by customers, February’s I heart Market will offer a range of discounted products.

“We were over the moon with the turn for our first markets at Northlands Primary, with a steady stream of customers, and great sales for our traders who are all small business entrepreneurs,” enthuses Manager of the Market, Tanith Molliere. “Our February market is kind of the “January Sales” market with great offers to help those budgets that may have been stretched during the holidays.”

February’s Market promises a magical shopping experience with wares created with love and care by local artisans and small businesses, reflecting a deep commitment to their artistry and craft.  With Valentine’s Day just around the corner – there will also be a gorgeous array of “romantically-inspired” products available.

As always, the market is filled with handmade treasures ranging from fine leather goods, unusual ceramics, exquisite jewellery and accessories, innovative visual art, home decor, plants, clothing, condiments and pickles, cured meats, a delightful selection of delicious baked goods. Of course, the usual mouth-watering array of food truck eats, catering to every palate including vegan and vegetarian.

There is also a secure play area for children between the ages of 1 and 6, with qualified Teacher’s Assistants in attendance available for the morning for those parents who want to take a break to shop or enjoy some delicious food. There is a fee of R100 for the morning or part thereof. A “pram park” is also available for people to leave their prams whilst shopping to help avoid congestion in the hall.

The market is housed in the school hall and surrounding gardens from 9am to 2pm, and takes place rain or shine as most of the traders are under cover.  Parking is available in designated school areas, with security guards to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
