Durbanite recently sent one of their contributors to review the St James on Venice Boutique Hotel. Carmen had great things to say about this place.
“My Husband and I recently went to St James on Venice Boutique Hotel for a delicious lunch. It was a welcome change after the pub style meals we were accustomed to, where the noise levels are akin to that of a boeing 747 on take-off!
The “olde world” service and tranquil Edwardian setting were the ideal background to have a relaxed lunchbreak and to escape the constantly increasing stresses of the modern world.
The starters that we chose were Tempura Haloumi (R65) which is haloumi fried in tempura butter served with cranberry coulis and sugared figs and Fresh mussels(R65), both were superbly cooked and beautifully presented.
The mains that we chose were Rump Steak (R115) which was done to perfection, and the other main was Deboned Lamb Shank Pot pie (R95) which was so delicious. We both had coffee creme brulee’ which was the perfect ending to a wonderful lunch.
We will definitely be coming back there and bringing our friends.
St James on Venice Boutique Hotel also offer high teas every day, which need to be pre-booked because of the popularity.”

We attended a wedding at the St. James Hotel… was a lovely setting! The ceremony was held under the most beautiful tree and reception continued with the outdoorsy theme in a lovely courtyard. Finger foods were served, guests sat at informal bar-type tables and danced the night away. Was a relaxed and homey vibe, but still had the elegance, sophistication and charm that a wedding should have!
We love it there!
Thank you so much for the lovely review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your lunch with us and look forward to welcoming you back to The Saint James on Venice.
