‘Tis the season to be merry and plan a special Christmas lunch celebration at the Cargo Hold, uShaka Marine World’s top fine dining spot in the hold of the iconic shipwreck on the beachfront promenade. Cargo Hold chef, Warren Frantz, has created a scrumptious menu that has something for everyone – from vegetarians to those who prefer a lighter meal as well as those who go all out for traditional Christmas fare.
Starters include Calamari and Spiced Chorizo (served with fragrant rice, chorizo and a coriander yoghurt), Smoked Salmon Tian (thinly sliced smoked salmon, crème fraiche, avocado, capers and shallots), Fried Spiced Chicken Breast (with marinated aubergine, avocado mousse and roasted red pepper coulis), and a traditional Greek salad served in the famous Cargo Hold style.
For mains, our chef is serving Honey Glazed Ham (glazed Kassler loin with pineapple, cherries and apple sauce), Roast Turkey Breast (Turkey rolled with a chipolata sausage and cranberry stuffing complimented by a gooseberry sauce), Line fish (grilled with herbs and spices, lemon and olive oil and served with French fries), Prawns Nacional (grilled to perfection and served with peri-peri and lemon butter sauces), Strudel of Field Mushrooms (mushrooms, spinach and goats cheese in phyllo, tomato and basil coulis) and Grilled Beef Fillet (topped with feta and green fig preserve and served with potato mousseline, slow roasted vegetables and a honey port wine jus).
Those who still have room for dessert can choose from traditional Christmas Pudding (served with crème anglaise and vanilla ice cream), Decadent Chocolate Torte (which comes with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream) and Baked Cheesecake (thick cream cheese blended with smooth Crème Fraiche), baked to perfection on a thin, shortbread crumb base.
The starter, main course and dessert will cost only R255 per person while the starter and main course or the main course and dessert will cost only R205 per person.
