FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY – An all-star line-up at an all-star venue featuring all-star gags!

On Saturday, June 25th fasten your seatbelt for the laugh-a-minute ALL STAR COMEDY JAM presented by East Coast Radio at Durban’s iconic International Convention Centre.

Hosted by Durban’s well-known breakfast radio host, Darren Maule, who will not only be welcoming the acts, but throwing down some funnies himself, you can expect a top-class comedy spectacle featuring a line-up of popular local comedic personalities – Kagiso Lediga, Loyiso Gola, Conrad Koch, Joey Rasdien, Darren Simpson, Carvin Goldstone and Rory Petzer.

Chosen distinctly for their unique South African flavour, these comedians are sure to impress with some new content – inspired by South Africa – for South Africans!

Recognized today as one of the country’s pioneering black comedians in the country & given his invaluable contribution to local comedy, Kagiso Lediga has certainly earned his right to be called a South African comedy legend.

Another heavyweight who will be taking to the stage is Loyiso Gola – popularly known for being the co-creator and anchor of the late-night satirical news television series Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola on e.tv and eNCA which launched in 2010. Gola is sure to put a spin on political content, twisting the serious into funny – something a South African audience can truly appreciate.

Adding to the lineup will be an appearance by Joey Rasdien who is said to be the face of a new generation of South African comedy. Rasdien is popularly known for his appearances in local movies such as Running Riot, Bunny Chow, Vaatjie Sien Sy Gat, Dollars and White Pipes, as well as the recently released Outrageous. Of recent, Rasdien headlined the most recent Blacks Only Comedy, and has become a regular performer at the popular Heavyweight Comedy Jams.

Another representative of the “Bruino’s” is Durban boy, Carvin Goldstone, who began his comedy career a decade ago after winning the Madras Masala Comedy show Competition in 2006. Known for presenting 100% clean comedy and drawing from life experiences, Goldstone is sure to hit the funny bone for many locals – young and old.

With so many big names putting mouth to mic, what better way to create a spectacle than by adding a few more? Conrad Koch is another big name – due to his fantastically funny award-winning world-class puppetry. In 2010, Koch won Entertainer of the Year award in 2010 and has served the industry for over fifteen years to both local and international audiences. Koch is a must-see act, especially when he is joined by his most famous character, Mr. Chester Missing – a regular on the hit e.tv show, Late Night News with Loyiso Gola; and the front man of his hit one man shows, Puppet Asylum & the Chester Missing Roadshow.

For fans of Darren “Whackhead” Simpson, expect to be thrilled when he steps onto stage to help you laugh out loud, which he has become most popular for – presenting the M-Net hidden camera show, “Laugh Out Loud” and “Clipz”. Darren “Whackhead” Simpson has truly become a household name in the entertainment industry and his act is sure to impress on the night.

With the show being presented by Durban’s number 1 radio station, East Coast Radio, both Darren Maule and Rory Petzer from the station will be showing off their comedy skills which have become quite popular in recent times.

Rory Petzer has been in radio for nine years and is currently the Executive Producer and co-host of East Coast Drive with Damon Beard. Rory has three MTN Radio Awards under his belt and when not in studio, Petzer is a professional comedian, writer, entertainer and MC performing in and around KZN on a regular basis and boasts a satirical news website www.newsbyrory.com which averages over 1500 views per day.

Last but not least is Darren Maule, a seasoned stand-up comedian, actor and entertainer who is known for his comedic story-telling and for playing his part in Play TV, Hard Copy, Out of the Box and sit-com Font. Currently you will find Darren Maule heading up the East Coast Radio Breakfast team every weekday between 6am and 9am.

This show, running for one night only is one you just cannot miss! Doors open at 19h00 and the show starts promptly at 20h00.

Tickets which range between R230 – R350 can be booked online through Computicket or at Computicket outlets at major retailers such as Shoprite & Checkers.

Milky Chance recently announced their long-awaited return to South Africa with their “Living In A Haze” tour in February 2024 which will see them perform in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The German Duo are excited to confirm that both Neon Dreams and Sean Koch will join them as support acts on the line-up for their shows in Cape Town (15 February) and Johannesburg (17 February), and Neon Dreams will also join Milky Chance in Durban (18 February) as support act.

Canadian duo Neon Dreams are no strangers to the South African music scene. Their 2019 single “Life Without Fantasies” reached the top of the South African viral charts amassing millions of streams in 2021 during the lockdown. The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. They have continued to cement themselves in the industry here, having toured the country a number of times over the past few years and return in February 2024 to share the stage with Milky Chance in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Sean Koch is one of SA’s most-loved indie-folk artists who brings a mixed bag of African and western, influence alongside messages of home, a connection to nature, the ocean and the people around him; to his storytelling, feel-good music. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse. From dance infused songs like ‘Lift You Up’ the standout single from his collection (including the Double MZK & G DOM remix) to the dreamier songs like ‘Feel the Energy’ that carry deeper messages of connection to the natural world and the people that surround us.
