The Buco Umhlanga Food and Music Festival
The Buco Umhlanga Food and Music Festival at Chris Saunders Park in Umhlanga (near Gateway Theatre of Shopping), set to take place on Tuesday, August 9th – just in time for the Women’s Day celebrations – there’s something for everyone and is sure to be a day filled with the best of the good life.
Tickets, which cost R80 per person through Computicket and R100 at the door, include Artisan food stalls boasting fresh, creative, gourmet and mostly South African inspired cuisine from the likes of Afro’s Chicken, Republik, Roti & Chai, Carrilho’s, Timmy’s Moist Biltong, Loophole, Inca and Tato Twist to mention a few; with tasty chow ranging from burgers, chicken strips, Indian street food, chicken prego rolls, peri-peri livers, espetada, flatbreads with gourmet toppings and potato twisters, that will complement the local craft beer offering. There’s also a G&T Garden, and selection of fine wines for connoisseurs or those wanting to try some tipple, whilst moving to the sounds of local South African artists including headline act, Majozi.
Majozi, who appreciates the celebration of Women’s Day with his mother and Christian faith, which is what inspires his music, is extremely excited about being able to sing at this particular festival, especially all those special ladies who will be enjoying the public holiday dedicated just to them.
Having had a keen interest in music from a young age, Majozi released his first EP, Marvelous Light, in 2013, which made it to No.9 overall on the South African iTunes chart and No.1 in the singer/songwriter category. Following the online success and popularity of the EP, his single, The River, was then playlisted on 5FM, Kfm and other radio stations across the country.
Majozi
Over the past year, Majozi’s Indiefolk sound with subtle influences of electro, has been steadily climbing the South African music charts. Some of his highlights include opening for Matthew Mole, Gangs of Ballet, Zebra and Giraffe and international artist, Yoav as well as Mango Groove at Durban Botanical Gardens. He has also performed at the Oppi Koppi Music Festival, White Mountain Music Festival and the Mr Price Pro Concert.

Doors open at 12 noon.
Don’t forget, with so much on offer, own food, drink and umbrellas will not be permitted at the venue.
