Endless Horizons is situated in the cosmopolitan suburb of Durban North and offers unsurpassed 180 degree views of the Indian Ocean. The location offers travellers a wide variety of activities and destinations to visit and explore. Only a short hop to the King Shaka International Airport, Umhlanga Business Parks and Gateway Theatre of Shopping makes this hotel the ideal location to be based at in Durban whether travelling for business or pleasure. Other attractions and excursions (in a 20km radius) includes the Moses Mabhida, Kings Park and Kingsmead Stadium, various restaurants and golf courses, nature reserves and blue flag beaches to name but a few.
We were recently invited to experience Endless Horizons.

“A wonderful concoction of East, West and Africa meets Endless Horizons. Drawing its inspiration from the rich cultural diversity found in Kwa-Zulu Natal, the newly furnished and renovated hotel reveals conscious elements of the Indian and Zulu culture
Located on Umhlanga Rocks Drive in the popular suburb of Durban North, we packed our suitcases and embarked on a journey to this 5 star boutique hotel. We were met by the friendly hospitality staff who checked us into 3 of the 12 newly decorated bedrooms. With complimentary tea and coffee, we enjoyed a glass of wine and hot chocolate on the room’s balcony overlooking the ocean.

Catering for both corporate and guests of leisure, Endless Horizons Boutique Hotel is also a perfect location for corporate meetings and events.
The 180 degree vista of the ocean’s horizon served as an ideal backdrop to a baby shower celebration that was taking place in the function room and by the pool deck. Whether it is a corporate function, a celebration, weddings (up to 100 guests), a romantic getaway, dinner, social cocktail, or a meeting coffee and breakfast by the pool, there are endless possibilities here at Endless Horizons.

New to the refurbishment and renovation list (that has been a miraculous 4 month transformation) is the cigar lounge. This boardroom/cigar and scotch room can be hired for corporate events and presentations. Taking on an honesty policy, guests are welcome to pour themselves a glass of scotch or light up a cigar and relax in this home away from home. Treated like family, this boutique hotel’s aim is to provide its guests a unique and private experience, proving to be the ultimate escape of relaxation after a tiresome business day. Kick back a few sundowners and watch the horizon. Speaking of tiresome, there has been some talk of converting the hotel’s gym (yuck!) to a spa (yay!) Because really, who wants to exercise whilst away?
The open planned public spaces that flow into one another include the reception area, lounge and bar, and restaurant which pour out onto the deck area that frames the swimming pool.
Endless Horizon’s sister hotel, Endless Vineyards in Hermanus, create and bottle their own wine, which can be served from Endless Horizons’ wine cellar.
The newly opened restaurant, Khuraka is a creative fusion of Indonesian, Indian, colonial and Zulu cuisine. With its sister restaurant who has already won international awards, Khuraka’s experience of unique flavours is a must to try.

We enjoyed starters of rotti’s with chilli butter and Chawanmushi, a plate of lemon chili Natal Snoek, pickled white radish and coastline egg custard, as well as Poori (Kerala style mussel baia, toasted cashew and tamarind.) Coal roasted lamb was served on a bed of aloo potato mash, tabacco onions, yellow chickpea and basmati, dahl espume. This was called Briyani.

I ordered the Zongzi. A bamboo leaf wrapped line fish, pok choi served with a lemon balm, sweet potato, sumac, and shoots of bamboo.

Dessert was served on a beautiful box of rose jelly, coconut ginger ice cream and a sabia milk sphere on beds of nuts.

Open to the public, you don’t need to be a guest here at Endless Horizons to enjoy a cocktail or two, a breakfast or romantic souiree, nor do you need to be a tourist to spend the night!”
