In November, uShaka Marine World will once again echo with the sounds of African drums as over 60 dance troupes perform the Indlamu – the traditional dance most often associated with the Zulu culture and based on warrior war dances.
Celebrating the 10th annual uShaka Marine World Zulu Dance Championship, in association with the Department of Arts and Culture, the troupes will battle it out for the top 10 best indlamu spot in KZN for finals to be held on the Sunday, November 30th.
First prize is R10 000 cash, a floating trophy and a R500 000 guaranteed working contract from December 2014 to December 2015. The second and third placed groups will receive cash prizes of R 8000.00 and R5000.00 respectively.
“This event is unique and only happens at uShaka Marine World. It started ten years ago and has given performers a fantastic opportunity to develop this special art form and share it with both local and international visitors. Each performance is a memorable cultural experience that is the very heartbeat of the Kingdom of the Zulu,” says Entertainment Manager Wayne
Scott.
Scott says that uShaka Marine World is looking forward to welcoming thousands of dancers who will compete on 1, 8, 15, 22 November as well as members of the public who will definitely enjoy this dance spectacle.
Registration for each event is 9am with the shows starting at 10am. For more information, contact Nombuso Buthelezi for bookings on 031-3288103
