“It’s no science, man. It’s just a down-to-earth, good story about how I managed to build the empire that I think I’ve got now.” Unassuming business powerhouse, J’Something, is to share the secrets to his phenomenal success in music, food, TV production and being the creative director of a telecommunications giant.
The Mi Casa frontman is one of four strategists and thought-leaders who have been handpicked to speak at the East Coast Radio GIBS Business Breakfast in Durban next month. Presented by Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal, the event takes place at the ICC on 8 March 2016.
J’Something is no stranger to being on stage but this time he will be trading his cool vocals and nifty dance moves for a chance to talk business and why passion is everything. “I’m a dude who’s extremely passionate about what he does. I’m a guy who has managed to achieve quite a bit over the last five years and I would like to share some of the little secrets and lessons that I’ve learned along the way,” he’s told East Coast Radio Breakfast host, Darren Maule.
Zest and zeal fuel everything J’Something does, whether he’s on stage with his Mi Casa bandmates or hosting his own cooking show on TV or stepping into his role as Creative Director of Huawei Africa. “There’s a reason why we’ve got a heart inside of us that’s filled with all these dreams and I think that’s what we have to pursue in life. Otherwise you’re stuck in a rut trying to do things you weren’t really meant to do. So do what you love.”
Always an optimist, J’Something believes learning from mistakes and misjudgements is just as important as learning from those who have already succeeded. “One of my favourite things is to fall. I love failing sometimes because it’s the only way you learn to get up. Big failures mean great learnings.”
Catch business savvy, J’Something, at the East Coast Radio GIBS Business Breakfast at Durban’s ICC on 8 March 2016. He will share the stage with CEO of Business Results Group, Nicola Tyler, entrepreneur Vusi Thembekwyo of Dragons’ Den SA fame, and author and tech whizz, Alan Knott-Craig Jr. Further details are on www.ecr.co.za
