WIN Holi One Festival of Colours tickets!

Published

on

Durbanites, it is finally here! The original Holi One Festival of Colours is coming to the coast. Get ready to paint the town red, blue, green and yellow; in fact, pick your favourite colour.

The original Holi Festival of Colours 2013 World Tour, of which the first was held in Europe, is now coming to Durban to transform Berea Rovers club on the 28th December 2013 into a multi-coloured dance floor. As part of more than 14 countries and over 38 cities worldwide, this is an event not to be missed. The Holi Festival of Colours rocked Johannesburg in September and Cape Town in October and will now bring together South Africa’s rainbow nation when it hits the shores of Durban.

Holi is one of the largest festivals in India announcing the arrival of spring and the passing of winter and also marks the victory of the good over the bad. During the Holi celebrations, the cast system is out of force and all people are considered equal – the symbol for that being the colours. The Holi Festival celebrates the statement that all people are equally coloured. The festival breathes an atmosphere of laughter and is an expression of joy with people burying their hatchets and throwing their worries to the wind. As such, the Holi Festival of Colours supports one of Holi’s biggest customs of loosening the strictness of social structures and bringing together communities in an exhilarating experience. The Holi Festival of Colours is not a religious event in any way and is open to all races, religions and nationalities. The festival captures the spirit of Holi and the positive energy it preaches.

Every hour on the hour from 14h00 a countdown culminates in partygoers throwing their powder into the air to create a massive explosion of colour. The coloured powder is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and allergen free. The powder is sold at the event for R20 per sachet with 5 different colours available.
On the decks:

The line-up includes big names such as LCNVL, DJ Fresh, Pascal& Pearce and Napalma (live). The extended line up will be released later this month.

Locnville (LCNVL) is a multi-award winning and bestselling electronic duo consisting of twin brothers, Andrew and Brian Chaplin.Their latest offering, Faster Longer Mixtape has received mass critical acclaim, spawning the chart and topping singles Closer and The Year 3000.

The much-loved 5FM DJ Fresh dropped his law studies and pursued radio fulltimeby joining YFM in 1997. Fresh was heading up the YFM breakfast team by 2003, followed by the morning show on Metro FM and was quickly snapped by 5FM shortly after that. His show is currently 5FM’s most popular shows. He also has a list of successful house albums to his name.
Pascal and Pearce’s success is not only at home in South Africa but also tops the charts abroad, garnering international acclaim. The pair has done official remixes for local artists such as Locnville, Goldfish, Flash Republic, Zebra & Giraffe, Goodluck and Lady Lea, and are continuously working on their sound in a way that is both organic and constantly evolving.

Canadian duo Neon Dreams are no strangers to the South African music scene. The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse. From dance infused songs like ‘Lift You Up’ the standout single from his collection (including the Double MZK & G DOM remix) to the dreamier songs like ‘Feel the Energy’ that carry deeper messages of connection to the natural world and the people that surround us. Ziggy Alberts announces his debut South African tour as he heads to Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town this October

Published

on

By

Ziggy Alberts’ first ever South African visit will anticipate the release of his forthcoming sixth studio album, DANCING IN THE DARK, out 04 November 2022.

Musically, Ziggy’s sound has raised comparisons to the likes of early Ben Howard or Jack Johnson. His sound is laid back, soulful and folk-tinged, and his songwriting is honest and personal. Whilst Ziggy Alberts is similar to his contemporaries in writing about his personal experiences, his music is layered with subtextual references to issues close to his heart, such as the natural world, the human experience and the wider planet.

DANCING IN THE DARK has been driven by real-time releases, including the singles I BELIEVE, TATTOOS, THE GREAT DIVIDE and most recently, THE SUN & THE SEA featuring Donovan Woods, which all find their home on the album. The new record sits in a genre – self-titled by Ziggy – as “Future Folk”. In his own words, “the album is a blend of the honest and raw, with the smoothness and touch of synthesised soundscapes, intentional tuning and programmed organic samples… that reflects accurately the range of experiences we are having as humans in our current world.” Matched with Ziggy’s storytelling and sincere songwriting, DANCING IN THE DARK shows yet another step in Alberts’ growth as an artist, his music and personal explorations, both introspectively and in the natural world.

Founder of his independent label, Commonfolk Records, and book publishing house, Commonfolk Publishing, Ziggy Alberts has managed to craft what many musicians and authors dream of – the ability to tell a story on their own terms. In 2022, Ziggy was awarded an APRA for his track letting go. He has also earned ARIA Platinum certifications for Laps Around The Sun (Double Platinum), Gone, Runaway, Heaven, Love Me Now, Stronger and Four Feet in the Forest (EP), plus Gold certifications for his Laps Around The Sun album and six tracks in his catalogue.

Tickets to the REWIND TOUR – SOUTH AFRICA 2022 are on sale from https://breakoutevents.co.za
