WIN Holi One Festival of Colours tickets!

Published

on

Durbanites, it is finally here! The original Holi One Festival of Colours is coming to the coast. Get ready to paint the town red, blue, green and yellow; in fact, pick your favourite colour.

The original Holi Festival of Colours 2013 World Tour, of which the first was held in Europe, is now coming to Durban to transform Berea Rovers club on the 28th December 2013 into a multi-coloured dance floor. As part of more than 14 countries and over 38 cities worldwide, this is an event not to be missed. The Holi Festival of Colours rocked Johannesburg in September and Cape Town in October and will now bring together South Africaā€™s rainbow nation when it hits the shores of Durban.

Holi is one of the largest festivals in India announcing the arrival of spring and the passing of winter and also marks the victory of the good over the bad. During the Holi celebrations, the cast system is out of force and all people are considered equal – the symbol for that being the colours. The Holi Festival celebrates the statement that all people are equally coloured. The festival breathes an atmosphere of laughter and is an expression of joy with people burying their hatchets and throwing their worries to the wind. As such, the Holi Festival of Colours supports one of Holiā€™s biggest customs of loosening the strictness of social structures and bringing together communities in an exhilarating experience. The Holi Festival of Colours is not a religious event in any way and is open to all races, religions and nationalities. The festival captures the spirit of Holi and the positive energy it preaches.

Every hour on the hour from 14h00 a countdown culminates in partygoers throwing their powder into the air to create a massive explosion of colour. The coloured powder is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and allergen free. The powder is sold at the event for R20 per sachet with 5 different colours available.
On the decks:

The line-up includes big names such as LCNVL, DJ Fresh, Pascal& Pearce and Napalma (live). The extended line up will be released later this month.

Locnville (LCNVL) is a multi-award winning and bestselling electronic duo consisting of twin brothers, Andrew and Brian Chaplin.Their latest offering, Faster Longer Mixtape has received mass critical acclaim, spawning the chart and topping singles Closer and The Year 3000.

The much-loved 5FM DJ Fresh dropped his law studies and pursued radio fulltimeby joining YFM in 1997. Fresh was heading up the YFM breakfast team by 2003, followed by the morning show on Metro FM and was quickly snapped by 5FM shortly after that. His show is currently 5FMā€™s most popular shows. He also has a list of successful house albums to his name.
Pascal and Pearceā€™s success is not only at home in South Africa but also tops the charts abroad, garnering international acclaim. The pair has done official remixes for local artists such as Locnville, Goldfish, Flash Republic, Zebra & Giraffe, Goodluck and Lady Lea, and are continuously working on their sound in a way that is both organic and constantly evolving.

The German Duo are excited to confirm that both Neon Dreams and Sean Koch will join them as support acts on the line-up for their shows in Cape Town (15 February) and Johannesburg (17 February), and Neon Dreams will also join Milky Chance in Durban (18 February) as support act.

Canadian duo Neon Dreams are no strangers to the South African music scene. Their 2019 single ā€œLife Without Fantasiesā€ reached the top of the South African viral charts amassing millions of streams in 2021 during the lockdown. The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. They have continued to cement themselves in the industry here, having toured the country a number of times over the past few years and return in February 2024 to share the stage with Milky Chance in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Sean Koch is one of SAā€™s most-loved indie-folk artists who brings a mixed bag of African and western, influence alongside messages of home, a connection to nature, the ocean and the people around him; to his storytelling, feel-good music. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse. From dance infused songs like ā€˜Lift You Upā€™ the standout single from his collection (including the Double MZK & G DOM remix) to the dreamier songs like ā€˜Feel the Energyā€™ that carry deeper messages of connection to the natural world and the people that surround us.
