With five South African Music Awards (SAMA) nominations, sensational house music trio, Mi Casa is set to perform at the Old Mutual Music at the Lake series on Sunday, 6 April at the Durban Botanic Gardens. Supporting them is the highly popular group, The Muffinz.

Mi Casa is riding a wave of chart-topping singles, including “Jika” and “Turn You On”, and is blazing the dance floors in South Africa, the continent and around the world.

Their latest album, Su Casa, has dance fans jiving and music critics applauding. Su Casa is nominated for Album of the Year, Duo or Group of the Year, Best Dance Album, Best Music Video of the Year and Remix of the Year at this year’s SAMAs.

Their blistering hot live performance is as festive as their sound so show goers are in for a treat.

Sophisticated afro-jazz, soul and funk act, The Muffinz is set to entertain the crowds before Mi Casa takes to the stage. The group is also nominated for a SAMA for Best Music Video of the Year.

With album sales in excess of 50 000 units and appearances at some of the best music jazz festivals, this five-member group, despite being relatively new on the scene, has captured the hearts of a cross section of music lovers. Their fans cut across race, class, gender and age with an honest and authentic sound that delivers a universal message.

  1. This is my ultimate FAVOURITE south african band! Their Soulful music can set the tone for any occasion and my friends and I often enjoy listening to it around the pool with an awesome braai. I would LOVE to take my boyfriend for a lovely picnic in the park, beautiful setting with a beautiful band!

  2. Because I love Micasa and I would go to the ends of the earth to shout this out if I had to! They make such amazing South African music and make me so proud to call myself a South African local music lover! Home grown talent at it’s best, and I want to be there to enjoy and support their awesome efforts 😀 Please send me, please please! Annnnd as if it cannot get better, my boyfriend and I are celebrating our one month anniversary of being together, and this would be the perfect, most incredible way to celebrate it – electric atmosphere, good company, gorgeous setting and GREAT music!!!

Oh, and I think I should win because I am one of the first five to enter which means that I am glued on your blog, Facebook and Twitter page, making sure I miss nothing from your awesome blog…I am sure that counts for some extra brownie points *wink wink* *nudge nudge* LOL!

  3. I LOVE both Mi Casa and The Muffins and I think I might have had a hand in Mi Casa’s win at the Metro Music Awards earlier this month by voting for them a total of 108 times. I constantly have SuCasa playing in my car and at home and know every song on the CD verbatim. I was thrilled to get my copy of the CD signed by the guys during their launch at Musica Gateway last year and would L.O.V.E to be at their concert at DBG on Sunday. I am also a huge fans fof The Muffinz, but have never seen them live, so that would be quite an experience. This would be the perfect way to end a weekend and I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed to win.

  4. Would be my first time encountering a Music by the Lake performance and what better way than to kick start my experience with Mi Casa / The Muffins!! Pretty please 🙂 x

  5. My little sister is thee biggest MiCasa fan and yet she’s never gotten the chance to see them perform. Everytime we plan on attending one of their gigs something always coems up, would be great to win these tickets to spoil her and let her indulge her musical fantasy. Neither of us have ever been to the Old Mutul mucis-in-the-park shows and it would something new, fun and exciting for us to enjoy together.

  6. My boyfriend and I have just recently moved to Durban, we both love Mi Casa and would love to experience what this awesome city has to offer by watching them live at Durban Botanic Gardens!!

  7. Need some great local Micasa in my eardrums!…. & to be brutally honest I’ve not heard of the Muffinz, which is a jolly good excuse to want those tickets sooooo badly! ;-))

  8. Couldn’t believe my ears when I hears Mi Casa live at the Miss SA pageant, they sounded exactly the same as when I hear them on the radio, now that’s talent! As well as seeing the awesome pics of the previous music at the botanical gardens on the Durbanite page, I definitely felt like I was missing out!

  9. Micasa is amazing .. Can chill or dance whatever mood your in 🙂 Will be amazing to listen to them and have a lovely time with my boyfriend at the park 🙂 Local is lekker

  10. I love MI Casa!!! I don’t think there is a bigger fan than me. Some of my friends even call me a groupie. Of late, I’ve been to all their shows in Durban – I have quite an extensive photo album of my experiences. I definitely deserve the opportunity to expand on my album and experiences with the love JSomething, Dr Duda and Mo-T. I have both their albums (which I purchased at a proper music store as opposed to downloading), which receives extensive airplay in my house and car, to the point that even my mum knows the words to both their albums.
Simply put, I am a MI Casa superfan.
The added bonus of seeing the Muffinz live is just to exciting for my little heart (but don’t worry, if I’m selected, this little heart will more than manage)
Please, please select me – the worlds biggest DURBAN and MI CASA and LOCAL IS LEKKER fan out there

  11. Pick me please! Why? Which Durbanite wouldn’t love a chilled Sunday listening to local jams in their local park:) Mi Casa rocks with culture and local flavour:)

  12. The Muffinz and Mi Casa in durban on a chilled sunday afternoon what more could I ask for. Durbans the place to be!
