TUPPERWARE CELEBRATES 50 YEARS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Published

on

Tupperware – one of the world’s most iconic brands – proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary in South Africa this month.

The company was started in the US during the mid-1940s by Earl Silas Tupper when he developed the airtight plastic containers used to store food and keep its freshness longer.

Known for pioneering the direct marketing strategy of  the home-based Tupperware party, the company was set to become a cultural phenomenon. At a time when women, who had been celebrated for working in factories during World War 2, were being pushed back to the kitchen, Tupperware showed them how to defy the limitations they faced by starting up their own businesses – based in their own homes.

Since then, for more than 65 years, Tupperware has been regarded as a personal development company that is dedicated to improving the lives of women by enabling them to reach their full potential.  The company has expanded its reach throughout the world and today has a sales force of 2.9 million women.

Tupperware arrived in South Africa in 1964 and became synonymous with quality, long lasting plastic containers.

While Tupperware still sells some of the timeless classics that no kitchen could be without in the Swinging Sixties – from the Shape ‘n’ Serve Jel Ring mould with its unique two-seal design and that oldie but goodie, the Astro Pitcher with its four matching mugs the company’s commitment to innovation now includes serving and cooking products that save time and money.

Some of the revolutionary products include:
• The MicroGourmet Steamer – a two-tiered cooking system that lets the user steam multiple foods at once, at the fraction of the cost of a built-in  steam.
• The new stainless steel cookware
• The UltraPro Ovenware, which has taken the world by storm. It is safe for the oven, microwave, fridge and freezer and serves beautifully on the table

Review: Springbok Lodge, Nambiti

Published

on

By

We’ve just returned from the most unforgettable family getaway at The Springbok Lodge nestled deep in the breathtaking Nambiti Private Game Reserve. And honestly, we’re still daydreaming about it.

Since it was our first time visiting Nambiti, we didn’t quite know what to expect. But from the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t going to be just any weekend away. We were greeted with warm smiles, chilled welcome drinks (yes, please!), and immediately made to feel like part of the Springbok Lodge family. The luxurious tented suites struck the perfect balance between safari adventure and cosy comfort.

No sooner had we settled in than we were whisked off for lunch and then straight into the wilderness for a three-hour game drive. And what a way to kick things off! Lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras – we saw it all, and then some. Our 3 year-old was in absolute awe, lighting up with every sighting. The lodge even gifted her the sweetest wildlife checklist book, which she took very seriously – future ranger in the making, perhaps?

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we paused in the middle of the bush for sundowners. There’s something deeply magical about sipping your drink as the sky turns gold and the sounds of nature hum all around you. A memory we will cherish forever.

Back at the lodge, we were treated to a mouthwatering three-course dinner: think delicate salmon roses, melt-in-your-mouth beef fillet, and indulgent desserts that had us speechless. Our room was toasty warm thanks to heaters and heated bedding – the kind of comfort that makes you sink into sleep with a happy sigh.

The next morning started early with another game drive, followed by a hearty breakfast. The rest of the day was a blissful mix of poolside lounging, drinks in hand, and our 3 year old fearlessly swimming – yes, in the middle of winter! Braver than me, for sure

We squeezed in one more afternoon game drive before winding down with another incredible dinner and a peaceful night in our perfectly prepped suite. It was the ideal balance of adventure and pure relaxation.

Why Springbok Lodge is a Family Favourite:

Springbok Lodge truly blew us away. The staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. The setting was out of a dream, and as a family-friendly destination, it checked every box. Being in a smaller, malaria-free reserve like Nambiti meant we felt safe while enjoying a more intimate and uncrowded wildlife experience – a huge win for us.
