As tension builds between the fighters, make sure to book your tickets at Ster-Kinekor!

EFC AFRICA 32 is taking place on Thursday, 07 August, which means the exclusive Ster-Kinekor Prelim Boutsare back on the big screen! This headline fight, part of the EFC AFRICA 32 line-up, is only to be seen in select Ster-Kinekor cinemas around the country, outside of the live event.

The Ster-Kinekor Prelim Bout for EFC AFRICA 32 features two fights that showcase the talents of four massively popular fighters. The ‘God of War’, Durban’s Peter Nyide, takes on Johannesburg’s sensational Wade Groth in the Featherweight division, while Cape Town knock-out specialist heavyweights, Sors ‘Guru’ Grobbelaar and ‘Knife’ Didier-Kilola, go head to head.

These two fights, exclusive to Ster-Kinekor, form part of the main fight card for the EFC AFRICA 32 fight night. South Africa’s leading cinema chain will once again be screening all 12 bouts of EFC AFRICA 32, live on its big screens, in select cinemas on Thursday, 07 August. If you can’t be ringside for this event at the Big Top Arena at Carnival City, then watching all the action from all 12 fights, in this larger-than-life format, is definitely the next best thing!

Bradley Knowles, General Manager: Marketing for Ster-Kinekor Theatres, says: “Following the successful introduction of the exclusive Ster-Kinekor Prelim Bouts last month, EFC Africa and Ster-Kinekor are excited to be bringing this concept back to cinema audiences for EFC AFRICA 32. The calibre of fighters is excellent and though these are billed as prelim bouts, we are expecting some explosive action on the big screen.

“These two fights can only be viewed by audiences at our cinemas, outside of being at the actual live venue. Fans who have watched all the action of EFC AFRICA on our larger than life screens all agree that the whole cinema set-up, including the crystal clarity of our digital projection system, provides a unique viewing experience. This is the perfect way to experience all the drama of all 12 fights on the night.”

”Sors, Knife, Wade and Peter are athletes with big KO power,” said EFC AFRICA president Cairo Howarth. “As soon as we matched them we knew they had to headline the prelim card, because there’s no better place than the big screen to see them in action. They will be fighting to finish, and will be attacking from the buzzer. These two fights are going to blow the roof right off.”

MMA fans across the country can enjoy EFC AFRICA 32 at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas, as the only venues besides the live event, to screen the full fight card. This includes the exclusive Ster-Kinekor Prelim Bout that features the two headline fights of Groth vs. Nyide and Grobbelaar vs. Didier. Other exciting fights listed on the card include Madiba vs. Swekile, Mulumba vs. Anicet, Van Winkel vs. Pretorius, Tresor vs. Mokgolo and Bukaka vs. Sebeko.

on

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr to be staged by The Young Performers’ Project at the Milkwood Theatre, Danville: 2 – 12 April 2026.

Fishy Fable: Inspired by Hans Christian Andersens’ beloved fairy tale, and based on the classic animated Disney movie, The Little Mermaid Jr stage musical is The Young Performer’s Project’s first show of 2026, coming to The Milkwood Theatre in Durban North over the Easter holidays from 2 – 12 April 2026.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages – perfect for the youthful 50 strong cast. This time around, the show features 30 senior performers, and 21 junior performers.

The Little Mermaid Jr is directed by Daisy Spencer, with choreography by Evashnee Pillay, music direction by Des Govender, sound design by Ant Govender, set and prop design by Nicolene Steyn and fabulous under the sea inspired costumes by Kathy Singery.

The cast includes Ariel played by Chloe Marot from St. Mary’s DSG (last seen in Shrek and Annie); Sebastian is Khethukuthula Ngcobo (I.S.P.A) and Flounder is played by Azania Mavimbela (Crawford North Coast).

In a heartwarming full circle moment, Azania’s mother Sindi, a current drama teacher, reflected on her own experience as a participant in YPP’s 2009 production of Big River, directed by Themi Venturas. Her daughter Azania, who entered the project seventeen years later as a Junior performer in A Fairytale Christmas Carol, is a testament to the organization’s lasting influence. This poignant connection also highlights the profound impact of YPP’s programmes on the lives of its alumni who are giving back to their communities as arts educators.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersens’ beloved fairy tale, and based on the classic animated Disney movie, The Little Mermaid Jr tells of a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find true love.

Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr offers a fantastic creative opportunity for rich costumes and sets, as well as the chance to perform some of the best-known songs from the past 30 years. Songs include: “Under the Sea“; “Kiss the Girl“; and “Part of Your World“.

Written by Doug Wright, with music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater.
