Cape Town’s Dance music supremos Goldfish and Crazy White Boy will bring the party to Durban on Saturday, 28 February when they play at the Old Mutual Music at The Lake at the Durban Botanic Gardens.
We are giving away FIVE DOUBLE TICKETS to five lucky Durbanites. To enter simply leave a comment below telling us why you love Goldfish. *Std. T&C’s apply.
There will be a sizzling mix of ingredients distinct from other dance capitals such as Ibiza, Porto and Miami – Durban’s balmy weather, the botanic garden’s sub-tropical setting, spicy flavours, world-class electronic music and a beautiful fun loving crowd.
Goldfish is an electronica and dance group comprising Dominic Peters and David Poole. They are proudly South African and create dance music containing elements of jazz and African music, combining live instruments like double bass, saxophones, flute, and vocals with samplers, effects and synthesizers.
They play in the world’s top party cities from Chicago and San Francisco, to Buenos Aires, London and Rome – where they present their Outdoor Experience Concept. It is only natural that they also bring it to Durban.
“When the New York Times placed Durban seventh in the 52 places to go to in 2015, we felt vindicated that Durban is one of the best destinations, and that the Old Mutual Music at the Lake series adds to the city’s overall ‘cool’ quotient,” said Bandile Mngoma, Old Mutual sponsorship manager.
Also coming to play is Crazy White Boy, a duo made up of Ryan Murgatroyd and Konstantinos Karatamoglou, both experienced and successful DJs and producers in their own rights.
Together they have worked their way up from bedroom producers into a powerful, leading presence in the South African music market as well as the rest of the world. Compelled to try and add a fresh twist to dance music, they set about writing with an African kwaito style to deliver a sound that stands out and more importantly challenges the local and international ear. They call it “Ghetto Tech”.
“So as we celebrate some great South African elements and Durban’s growing international stature it is apt to dance. The Durban Botanic Gardens are a world-class treasure worthy of a visit and our combined continued care.
The final ingredient is you, your friends and loved ones with your choice of picnic basket in tow. Luscious cocktails, fresh fruit and flavourful tapas are an idea – it’s up to you to make it good,” concludes Mngoma.
Tickets are available online at www.webtickets.co.za
Ticket prices: Pre-sold tickets are R140 and R160 on the day
Children aged 8-12 pay R60; kids under 8 are free. All children are welcome at the KidZone for extra fun and games
