About Minions:
Minions is a 3D, computer-animated comedy film and the prequel to the highly successful Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013).
Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting out as single-celled yellow organisms, the Minions have evolved through the ages, perpetually serving the most detestable of masters. However, continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters – from T. Rex to Napoleon – the Minions find themselves without someone to serve… and fall into a deep depression.
However, one Minion named Kevin has a plan. Alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob (all voiced by Pierre Coffin), he ventures out into the world to find a new big, bad boss for his tribe to follow and serve. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City – in fact, it is 1968 B.G. (Before Gru) – and end up in modern-day London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: to save all of ‘Minionkind’… from annihilation.
Actors Jon Hamm (Herb Overkill), Michael Keaton, Allison Jammy and Steve Coogan lend their voices to the film, as does Jennifer Saunders as Queen Elizabeth II.
Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ’60s that still permeates our culture today, Minions is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. Brian Lynch has written the screenplay and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.
