*WIN* Vir Das in comedy ‘Battle Of DaSexes’ – 4 & 5 June 2016

Published

— Competition Closed —

Acclaimed stand-up comedian-turned-big-screen actor and Bollywood Star, Vir Das, brings the international smash-hit comedy, Battle of DaSexes, to South Africa for a two weekend run: in Johannesburg’s Montecasino on 27, 28 & 29 May and then Durban’s Playhouse on 4 & 5 June.

We are giving away 3 double tickets to 3 lucky Durbanites. To enter leave a comment below telling us why you should win! FYI tickets are valid for the DURBAN show only, on the 4th June, 8pm. *Std. T*C’s Apply

Vir Das, who is equally comfortable working on TV, film, theatre and live-comedy, says “Battle of DaSexes is an insightful, fun and laugh-out-loud comedy-drama all about the eternal battle between Men and Women. It is a battle not with arms and gun powder but with bellies and eyeliner!”

Battle of DaSexes is written, directed and performed by Vir Das and produced by global theatre production house: AGP World.

The stand-up format comedy has been performed regularly in India to ovations and rave reviews. With tongues firmly placed in a multitude of cheeks, the show pits the women in the audience against the men:  “This act chronicles the differences between men and women from a scientific point of view. It begins with the sexes’ approach towards language, goes onto analysing their bodies and spots the differences between their vanities. Then it progresses into literature, music, movies and covers leadership, politics, business, crime, sex and commitment. The show is laced with scientific facts!” he explains.

“Did you know that women read up to nine books a year while men only read five? Or have you ever heard of something called mirror neurons in our brain which enable us to enjoy fiction and that women have 25 per cent more of these mirror neurons than men — which is why more women are fiction readers and more men are non-fiction readers?” he quotes.

The Indian Express has called Das ‘a comedian to watch out for’ and ‘India’s Answer to Jay Leno’. The Hindustan Times calls him ‘simply hysterical’. Delhi Times has listed him as one of Delhi’s Top Ten Dream Men. The Pioneer has called him ‘The Funniest Kid in India’. Verve has called him ‘India’s only true comic’.

Das has various live production projects currently in repertory:  Battle of DaSexesas well as Walking on Broken Das and History of India: VIRitten. He has approximately 35 plays, over 100 stand-up comedy shows, eight TV shows, two movies and six comedy specials behind him. He is also writing comedic columns for Femina, Maxim Exotica, DNA and Tehelka.

The show opens with Comic, TV and Film Actor Kavi Shastri performing a 15 minute act on the evolution of Men and Women from single cell organisms to early homo-sapiens.

Talking about Battle of DaSexes, Ashvin Gidwani, Managing Director and Producer, AGP World, said “Battle Of DaSexes is a unique concept that has wooed audiences all over the world. It has been performing to  packed houses and is a complete entertainer that packs the right punches.”

In this busy and fast-pace world, there is nothing like comedy to lighten our spirits. I have heard many reviews of the spectacular Vir Das and what an honour it would be to view his show. Battle of DaSexes is an ongoing process in our lives so the humour would add a bit of fun to all the seriousness. I would be thrilled to have this oppportunity!
