Parking off at Parklife Durban

Published

on

Durbanites always seem to miss out on a lot of the cool bands and festivals that our sister cities get to enjoy… but then came along Parklife.

If you missed this year’s event…  you might have been glad (the weather wasn’t the best – you know us Durbanites and the slightest hint of R.A.I.N) BUT you may have also been really bummed to have missed hearing  Angus and Julia Stones sultry and mesmerizing harmonies! Their music captured my soul #NewFanAlert

Set in Durban’s Botanic Gardens, Parklife was set to entertain Durbanites with an epic line-up of both local and international acts playing on two stages.

The rain kept a lot of the crowd at bay but once the sun started peaking through the clouds, so the people started joining the crowds! The We Love Summer stage showcased Funky G, Brett Aitken, Syzo, Ryan Murgatroyd, Vimo and The Kiffness (DJ Set). And the main stage the Kickstands, Majozi & Opposite The Other, Alice Phoebe Lou, Goodluck, Desmond & The Tutus and Angus & Julia Stone.

There was enough food and drinks on sale to quench your thirst and not become “hangry”. The lines moved pretty quickly. There were enough well-kept facilities (a.k.a. porter loos) and enough space for everyone to lay down their picnic blankets and sprawl out. We especially enjoyed the relaxed park-vibes and… the music of course! On a negative, we felt that the base of the music at times was “drowning out” the vocals – but we aint no sound experts so enough about that!

All in all a really chilled Sunday for us, spent parking-off in the gardens with mates, listening to some pretty schweet music… what more could a Durbanite ask for.

Thanks Parklife for having us, we hope to see you again soon!  And thanks Warren Green for sharing your photos.
