Meet Upvote South Africa! The newest hype to hit Durban and nationwide.
We sat down with the team behind UpVote to ask them a few questions.
1) What is UpVote all about?
Upvote South Africa is a new online discovery platform that is geared towards helping businesses market and advertise products and services to the community, we pride ourselves on giving local business the opportunity to grow through our user base as well as giving our users information on these different businesses. We believe in helping bridge the gap between business and customers by encouraging social engagement.
2) When did it start?
Upvote is a concept that came to fruition about 3 months ago, however it has been in the works for a while now.
3) Why do you feel it’s important to support other brands?
The support of local business as well as the community is vital for growth in any capacity so at Upvote one of our core values is to support local and in doing so we build trust. We want to be apart of the bigger picture which essentially is growth.
4) How does one get on your listing?
Upvote works on collections. We have a lengthy process whereby we go through hundreds of businesses, their reviews, ask the communities opinion and then from there we get in touch with the business and go from there, otherwise a business owner or professional ca purchase a listing directly from our website.
5) What are the benefits?
The community will benefit by being able to keep track of what is hot and happening in and around their city. Enabling them to discover new places to try, hidden gems as well as be able to see which places are the most popular among their community. If traveling this is also a benefit as they could find out more about a place and where to go before even arriving.
Our customers will benefit from using Upvote as the community will be able to view their business on the site. If your business is doing great and the community enjoys the products and services you have to offer they will vote for your business. The more Upvote’s your business has the higher it it shown on the Upvote websites, allowing the community to see the top businesses first.
6) You recently expanded to UpVote South Africa – what does this mean?
We are now not only focusing on local Durban businesses anymore, but now Cape Town and Johannesburg as well. We are still local to South Africa, however we now have a larger reach and target audience/community that we are now able to connect with.
7) What makes you proudly Durbanite?
At Upvote our core value is bringing the community together and we feel that Durban of all cities is the essence of that, Durbanites are the epitome of what a strong community looks like, we are proud to call ourselves Durbanites.
