Win Tickets to Ze Tops at Spar Bierfest

Published

on

It’s time to bust out the Bavarian brews, bratwurst and lederhosen because Tops at Spar Bierfest is back bigger than ever before!
Modelled on Munich’s world famous Oktoberfest, Tops at Spar Bierfest recreates the revellery, tradition, and of course the beer, of Bavarian beer festivals of old. Bierfest will be kicking off in Durban at Suncoast from 12th – 15th September 2013.

Now in its 3rd year, Tops at Spar Bierfest is officially South Africa’s biggest beer festival. Founding partner South African Breweries, have once more called upon their Master Brewers to craft three limited edition Bavarian-styled beers, exclusively brewed for Bierfest. Beers include the always popular Royal Bavaria Oktoberfest Bier, the traditional Krystal Weiss Protea Edelweiss and the speciality dark – the King Ludwig Munich Dunkel. Master Brewers will be located onsite for tasting and beer education at Bierfest’s “Braumeister Ecks”Ā – a.k.a Brewmasters Corner.

“We are delighted with Bierfest’s year on year growth and remain grateful to our loyal fan base who make this happen. We are proud to promote beer culture in this country – made all the more unique with our special brand of Bavarian fun and world class entertainment. Our goal is to cement Bierfest as a major event and mainstay in South Africa’s event calendar nationwide” says Producer, Andrew Douglas.

Produced to the highest production value Bierfest is hosted inside a 2,500-seater Bavarian Brauhaus festooned with Bavarian cor from the Motherland. Revelers will be served in traditional style by costumed Frauleins bearing fistfuls of frothing beer steins to wash down mouth watering Bavarian food including pork knuckle (eisbein), german sausages, pickles, pretzels and sauerkraut. Adding to the festive vibe, a world class entertainment program, including an authentic oompah band, will have you stomping your feet and raising your glasses in a toast to good times. Prost!

Says Mark Robinson, TOPS Group Liquor Manager, Ć¢ā‚¬Å“TOPS at SPAR is proud to headline the TOPS at SPAR Bierfest, South Africa’s largest beer festival. Beer culture is a growing phenomenon, and it is events such as these that are synonymous with our values of celebration, having fun and enjoying life. TOPS at SPAR Bierfest, also tries to tackle the serious issue of drinking and driving through our newly launched DRYVER app, which fits perfectly with the festivals Cheers. No Gears! Campaign

A smorgasbord of traditional Oktoberfest challenges will be on offer to test your strength and skill including the launch of Bierfest’s official sport. Beer Pong! Be sure to dress up in your dirndl (durn-dell) and lederhosen because there will be competitions for the best dressed King Ludwig and Princess Therese at every show, with fantastic prizes to be won.

2013 will see the evolution of Bierfest’s responsible alcohol consumption and safe driving practices campaign. aptly named Cheers NO Gears! Spearheaded by Tops at Spar’s groundbreaking mobile phone app DRYVER, Cheers NO Gears! provides Bierfest patrons with a range of safe and affordable choices to drink responsibly and get home safely – from rehydration stations and a designated driver rewards program through to Good Fellas memberships and preferred rates with Mozzie Cabs.
