TERRENCE BRAY WINS GATEWAY’S CELEBRITY CHEF SHOWDOWN AT MUGG & BEAN
Internationally celebrated and award-winning fashion designer, Terrence Bray has won the third evening of Gateway’s Celebrity Chef Showdown where he competed with Kathrin Kidger on Tuesday, 3 September.
The competition took place at Mugg & Bean Gateway. “It is a very special honour to be voted for by the patrons that were at Mugg & Bean. For them to have faith in me so much that they booked a seat is a prize enough. Winning was the humbling cherry on top,” says Bray. Bray’s winning menu comprised of; Moroccan butternut, chickpea and carrot soup for starters, grilled chicken fillet served on mustard mash, winter vegetables and topped with blue cheese sauce or vegetable lasagne for the main course and apple and cinnamon flapjacks for dessert. “The highlights of the evening for me include; the wonderful competitor I was paired with, Kathrin Kidger; serving my very supportive family and friends and the absolute professionalism of the Mugg & Bean team,” adds Bray.
Visitors to Gateway are invited to make a booking with their selected restaurant to attend any of the remaining two evenings in order to enjoy a night of entertainment and healthy competition between well known local celebrities. The remaining restaurants in the series include; fish market, teppanyaki, sushi and vibrant restaurant, Cape Town Fish Market; New York Style, Sevruga. On each restaurant’s evening, the meals prepared by the celebrities will be in line with the restaurants normal food offering.
Times are 18h30 for 19h00 and R120 per person for a set menu which includes; starter, main and dessert.
Gateway VIP Competition
Gateway VIP members can win a table of ten at each Celebrity Chef Showdown evening by burning 2000Â points that they have earned. VIP members also stand a chance to win one of two holidays valued at R18 000 each: a trip for two to the 7 star Karkloof Safari Spa.

Durban comedy favourites Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert-McIlroy return to Talloula with their new musical comedy – BUMP & GRIND, a high-energy musical sketch comedy that delivers a riotous mix of song, dance, quick-fire character comedy and heart. Created under the direction and choreography of Daisy Spencer, the show has already delighted audiences this festive season with its trademark MacBob mayhem and polish.
Described by Billy Suter as “a sparkly cracker of song, dance and off-the-wall humour,” BUMP & GRIND is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud theatrical experience. The show tumbles through a helter-skelter parade of characters — from fan favourites Bruce and Charmaine, as Elvis impersonators, pensioners Beatrice and Max, and super-sage Dr Veejay, to bold new creations including AI androids, Latin dance sensations and an Irish preacher with stand-up ambitions.
The music includes numbers from Talking Heads, Lady Gaga, Elvis, The Beatles, Whitney Houston and a climactic medley of ’80s chart hits.
