Extra Double-Ticket Giveaway to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Premiere

So we’ve announced our first 5 winners, who will be receiving double tickets to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 premiere on 24 April at Ster Kinekor, Gateway BUT there’s more. To make your Easter weekend even more exciting, we’ll be giving away an extra 15, yes FIFTEEN sets of double tickets to the first 15 people who tell us what superhero costume/gear they will wear to the premiere (please comment below).

Fans of the franchise have been waiting with baited breath to see Andrew Garfield *insert swoon* reprise his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, accompanied by the oh-so-likeable Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy). It’s hard not to like Spider-Man, the ultimate geek-turned-hero, who never quite wins as Peter Parker and is seen more as a vigilante than as a hero when he’s Spider-Man. Nevertheless, this doesn’t stop him from doing what he does best – thwarting over-the-top super villains.

Sooo … who’s the villain this time around? Jamie Foxx. Yes, Jamie Foxx. Hmmm… Not so sure whether Foxx can pull off a convincing villain? Well, producers obviously disagreed because he not only plays the villain, but the title role at that (this sequel is called “Rise of Electro”). But it seems filmmakers got a bit greedy with this film and decided one villain wasn’t enough. They thought they’d add a few more characters like The Rhino (the non-endangered kind) played by a formidable Paul Giamatti and a dash of the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). The focus of this movie seems to be relationships as they draw heavily on the Peter/Stacy romance as well as the conflicting and often blurry dynamic between Peter and his best friend, Harry Osborn (heir to Oscorp). The plot is set to build on these relationships whilst also shedding more light on his parents’ past and mysterious death with all sorts of smoke signals coming from the heart of the mystery – Oscorp.

It looks like an action-packed few hours with plenty to look out for. Peter Parker also seems to learn that not only does great power come with great responsibility but also great time management skills cos anyone who can multitask that many villains in one movie needs to show me how to schedule my diary.

Please note: winners will need to wear superhero gear at the premiere 🙂 The competition will close as soon as we receive our first 15 entries

I would love to have a super power that would allow me to create wealth to be used for good. To be able to save all the neglected animals and children in the world and give them a better life and to reduce poverty. I would DEFINITELY be in a super hero outfit at the premier if I won! 🙂

Never again shall a spouse lie about his/her whereabouts… never again shall a child lie about taking a cookie from the cookie jar and… never again will criminals walk free! THE LIES WILL BE TOLD! The world will become a better place! Peace and Harmony will flourish. *This does not apply to white lies as those are important when women ask if their bums look fat in their jeans*

And his spider sense… would be awesome to have a warning before something bad happens. 25. Jason Keith

    15 April 2014 at 8:36 am

It may sound cheesy but I think Stan Lee is the coolest superhero and he definately has the coolest power and its one Id love to have. The power of imagination. The ability to bring (to quote Reggies) joy to a child (or a few crazy adults like us). Stan Lee’s imagination has changed the world for all from many years ago and will continue to do so for many years to come.

I am yet to meet a child who hasn’t painted themselves green with some sort of paint to pretend they’re the Hulk, or put on some sort of mask to pretend they’re Spiderman, or perhaps the most common, wrapped a towel around their neck in order to pretend they’re Superman. I know I’ve done that many times!

Whats fascinating about his power is that we all have it and yet only a few of us have truly been able to tap into the beauty it holds.

  26. stephanie Boting

    15 April 2014 at 8:41 am

The power to do and know EVERYTHING.. The world would be sorted in a flash:P

  27. Justine Xyra Purcell

    15 April 2014 at 9:08 am

If i could have any power, it would be the ability to fly… travelling would be so much easier and quicker! I’d give a big finger up to Etolls and crazy petrol costs!

  28. shannon naylor

    15 April 2014 at 11:33 am

I would love to have invisibility 🙂 Would be awesome to spy on people, hear things that people say behind your back and also to sneak past people you dont want to see 😛

    15 April 2014 at 12:04 pm

The ability to embed software into my brain (somehow), that will make be do every day activities at optimum levels. Like being able to defend myself, being awesomely perceptive, engaging with danger etc. Something like Chuck meets Sherlock Holmes kind of superhero!

    17 April 2014 at 12:35 pm

    17 April 2014 at 3:44 pm

Hellooooo 🙂 Hope I’m not too late to enter here! Well the Muslim cloak/abaya could effectively work as Wind Woman or something like that and my hijab (headscarf) will act as the super crown which provides one with immense IQ and eyes at the back of one’s head 😀 this is my best shot..I don’t usually do superhero costumes as I’m already a heroine 😀

  33. Ryan Quevauvilliers

Ziggy Alberts announces his debut South African tour as he heads to Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town this October

Ziggy Alberts’ first ever South African visit will anticipate the release of his forthcoming sixth studio album, DANCING IN THE DARK, out 04 November 2022.

Musically, Ziggy’s sound has raised comparisons to the likes of early Ben Howard or Jack Johnson. His sound is laid back, soulful and folk-tinged, and his songwriting is honest and personal. Whilst Ziggy Alberts is similar to his contemporaries in writing about his personal experiences, his music is layered with subtextual references to issues close to his heart, such as the natural world, the human experience and the wider planet.

DANCING IN THE DARK has been driven by real-time releases, including the singles I BELIEVE, TATTOOS, THE GREAT DIVIDE and most recently, THE SUN & THE SEA featuring Donovan Woods, which all find their home on the album. The new record sits in a genre – self-titled by Ziggy – as “Future Folk”. In his own words, “the album is a blend of the honest and raw, with the smoothness and touch of synthesised soundscapes, intentional tuning and programmed organic samples… that reflects accurately the range of experiences we are having as humans in our current world.” Matched with Ziggy’s storytelling and sincere songwriting, DANCING IN THE DARK shows yet another step in Alberts’ growth as an artist, his music and personal explorations, both introspectively and in the natural world.

Founder of his independent label, Commonfolk Records, and book publishing house, Commonfolk Publishing, Ziggy Alberts has managed to craft what many musicians and authors dream of – the ability to tell a story on their own terms. In 2022, Ziggy was awarded an APRA for his track letting go. He has also earned ARIA Platinum certifications for Laps Around The Sun (Double Platinum), Gone, Runaway, Heaven, Love Me Now, Stronger and Four Feet in the Forest (EP), plus Gold certifications for his Laps Around The Sun album and six tracks in his catalogue.
