CINEMA NOUVEAU SCREENS THE MULTI-AWARD WINNING WEST END PRODUCTION OF WAR HORSE FROM NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE

Published

on

National Theatre Live continues to build on its highly successful range of screenings in South Africa with the release of the National Theatre’s multi-award-winning production of War Horse, seen by over five million people worldwide since its premiere at the National in 2007. War Horse will be broadcast for the first time from its home at the New London Theatre in the West End to Cinema Nouveau’s digital screens nationwide and at Ster-Kinekor Blue Route in Tokai, Cape Town, from Saturday, 12 April for eight shows only.

Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, the story has been adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford in association with the South African-based, award-winning Handspring Puppet Company. Since its first performance, War Horse has become an international smash hit.

War Horse follows the powerful story of a young boy called Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, who has been requisitioned to fight for the British in World War I. Caught in enemy crossfire, Joey ends up serving on both sides during the war before landing in No Man’s Land, while Albert, not old enough to enlist, embarks on a treacherous mission to find his horse and bring him home.
