WIN with Tupperware

– Competition closed-

Tupperware – one of the world’s most iconic brands – proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary in South Africa.

The company was started in the US during the mid-1940s by Earl Silas Tupper when he developed the airtight plastic containers used to store food and keep its freshness longer.

Known for pioneering the direct marketing strategy of  the home-based Tupperware party, the company was set to become a cultural phenomenon. At a time when women, who had been celebrated for working in factories during World War 2, were being pushed back to the kitchen, Tupperware showed them how to defy the limitations they faced by starting up their own businesses – based in their own homes.

Since then, for more than 65 years, Tupperware has been regarded as a personal development company that is dedicated to improving the lives of women by enabling them to reach their full potential.  The company has expanded its reach throughout the world and today has a sales force of 2.9 million women.

Tupperware arrived in South Africa in 1964 and became synonymous with quality, long lasting plastic containers.

While Tupperware still sells some of the timeless classics that no kitchen could be without in the Swinging Sixties – from the Shape ‘n’ Serve Jel Ring mould with its unique two-seal design and that oldie but goodie, the Astro Pitcher with its four matching mugs the company’s commitment to innovation now includes serving and cooking products that save time and money.

For more products or additional information about the company please visit  www.tupperware.co.za or call 0800 600 891.

We have been given the opportunity to spoil one lucky Durbanite with the following new and innovative products from Tupperware.

M-Press Maker

The M-Press Maker is an intuitive and easy to use product to press rolls and bars of different sizes in just one push. It’s perfect to prepare homemade croquettes, gnocchi and fish sticks for the greater joy of family and friends!  The M Press maker includes the following components:  The M-Press base, plunger, three interchangeable nozzle sizes (3 large shapes, 6 small cylindrical shapes and 2 rectangular shapes), a special scraper a moving tray and a recipe leaflet.

Why IT IS SO GREAT!

You just press the soft mixture through the selected nozzles to create regular lines of tubes or sticks at once. As you press the mixture down, the tray slides from under the container pushed by the mixture coming out of the nozzles. You can use the scraper to cut the mixture into tubes.

Growing up with three older sisters was difficult but totally fun especially the fact all our friends in the neighbourhood referred to us as the Tupperware Aunties daughters as mum sold Tupperware part time to earn an extra income. We always had different Tupperware lunch boxes, each one of us had a special colour which was awesome, even though we all grown up my mum still has all our school lunch boxes with her.

I am an absolute Tupperware fan and use my Tupperware daily. Life is so much easier with tupperware products. The liquid tight air tight products are an innovation in itself. Tupperware is very competitive and I simply love their new products like the press maker not to mention the extra chef. Wonderful to be able to have kitchen tools that don’t involve the use of electricity but still manage to achieve the same or even better results than your electrical tools.

I remember having a very special Tupperware tea set when I was a young girl. I used to have tea parties with my friends and teddies – needless to say not all the guests enjoyed the chocolate mud cakes! I think this was when my obsession with Tupperware began 🙂 I just love all that is Tupperware and would love to add these products to my ever growing collection.

    4 September 2014 at 6:52 am

I grew up with Tupperware, so it’s pretty much in my blood. I even owned a Mini Mix It as a child. I refer to my Tupperwares by their correct names like Fridgemates or Star Bowls and am amazed when even the agent needs time to remember what I’m talking about. I am personally offended when people refer to an ice cream tub as a Tupperware!! I would be a great agent for Tupperware but I’d also be my best customer! Thanks for one of the greatest products ever!

I love Tupperware and I cant seem to afford it anymore. I do really need containers to store my daughter’s lunch and snacks for preschool. I had the best containers in my lunch bag when I was small, I would love the same for her!

  24. Taryn

    8 September 2014 at 3:00 pm

I have only every referred to plastic containers as “tupperware”, as a kid my mom would always correct me and say its not the real tupperware and only when I grew up did I learn the real difference. I have only had a few real tupperware containers that have just never ever broken or faded! They have always been around and really appreciated as they are durable and dont break like cheap plastic ware. There is no other comparison and its a great product to have around family that like to claim lunch boxes as their own!

  35. Janet Perry

    17 September 2014 at 2:39 pm

My husband knows I have a love affair with Tupperware! I have precious childhood memories of my mom in the kitchen, whipping up all kinds of fantastic dishes while singing the praises of her trusty Tupperware products. I am the proud owner of one of two of her original pieces and I have developed a passion for collecting old and neglected Tupperware pieces from secondhand stores and charity shops. My recent adorable Tupperware find was from a SPCA secondhand shop. It’s one of those little jug mixers with a separate lid (probably a predecessor of the quick shake, I have two other oldies too) and this one has a separate spout too that comes off and you clean on it’s own. I just love it!! It would be a dream to have some of the latest products from Tupperware, but they will be treated with the same care and respect as all the great dames of Tupperware in my cupboard! X

My favorite story was when i was little – my mom was selling tupperware and i was taken to a ladies day where they were selling tupperware. I was so little and couldnt believe all the colours and different types of tupperwares. Now that i am older i know that tupperwares are the best products on the market and i would be so grateful to have these in my home. Miss my mom as she has passed and tupperwares will always remind me of my mom and our time together that day.

My mom has always been obsessed with Tupperware. We have this Tupperware mixing bowl with a bright orange lid that my mom got as a wedding present, which by the way was 35 years ago, and I cannot use any other bowl when I bake. I have been making plans on how I am going to sneak to bowl out the house when I get married, but for some magical reason I found an exact replica on a white elephant table at a market for R1. Best purchase ever!!

  43. Barrett

    17 September 2014 at 3:27 pm

I don’t really have a story, but Tupperware did keep me fed during lunchtimes at school 😛 Now I roll with cheap generics. In this case, cheaper isn’t better.

  45. Adele

    17 September 2014 at 3:38 pm

Have so many fond memories with Tupperwear, my mom has bought it for as long as i can remember! We still have plenty of the items she bought when she just got married, and they still going strong! One of my favourites has to be the shape sorter – me and both my sisters used it and then my nephew after that. And the creme caramel mold… it was/still is my favourite dessert and my mom still makes it everytime we go visit in the awesome Tupperwear mold. I have one now too. And since getting married have started my very own Tupperwear collection! Such great quality! It just lasts and lasts! Wont buy anything else

After proudly collecting Tupperware throughout my 18 year marriage, I got divorced last year and believe it or not, the Tupperware had to be sold too so the funds could be split, to say I was devastated would be an under-statement. I have not as yet been able to buy a single piece of Tupperware again as yet and would so love to win this as my little pride and joy to start up collecting again. Their is no other brand that can come close to Tupperware.

  51. Furzana

    18 September 2014 at 10:25 am

  58. Cathy

    22 September 2014 at 8:47 am

Gosh I still have one of their original rice cookers dating back more than 25 years 🙂 would be great to win a new rice cooker. The potato container is a wonder as I seldom buy more than 4-6 potatoes at a time because they go rotten so quickly, especially in the KZN humidity. With this container I could have an ample supply at all times.

  59. Wendy

    22 September 2014 at 8:56 am

Have always been a fan of Tupperware and still have some from when my daughter was born – one of my friends gave me a lovely Tupperware hamper filled with baby goodies. Even back then all those years ago, Tupperware was seen as the number 1 storage container for your home. It has certainly changed over the years and I still love their products, they may be pricier than the run of the mill plastic containers, but they really are value for money and they last forever…..a great product to hand down the generations.

  60. Dan

    22 September 2014 at 9:09 am

Would love to win these as they look fantastic. I can always remember Mom having to bake for school fetes/bake sale/birthdays etc and putting the lovely goodies into Tupperware containers. She would always give me strict instructions to ensure that I returned home with the said containers as they were her pride and joy (the containers were always marked with my name on the bottom in permanent marker, just in case it got mislaid…needless to say I never misplaced a container).

  61. Wendy

    22 September 2014 at 9:25 am

Tupperware has certainly changed over the years and their quality far exceeds their cost….real value for money. I still have Tupperware from my baby shower nearly 3 decades ago where I received a gorgeous storage set that was filled with baby goodies. Would love to win this set…loving the M-Press Maker and this would be a fantastic way to give “yucky food”, as my grandson says, a new twist with creative shapes and also encourage him to try different foods.

  74. Bianca

    22 September 2014 at 12:01 pm

Not only is tupperware a long known brand, it is a long lasting, durable brand. It works better than most items of other brands. The different styles they have are so awesome as it always fits what is needed. I don’t have one particular story in mind that would stand out with Tupperware, as it has always served its purpose and been a success in the eyes of my family.

  75. Carmen

Win Tickets to Milky Chance in Durban!

Published

on

Milky Chance recently announced their long-awaited return to South Africa with their “Living In A Haze” tour in February 2024 which will see them perform in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The German Duo are excited to confirm that both Neon Dreams and Sean Koch will join them as support acts on the line-up for their shows in Cape Town (15 February) and Johannesburg (17 February), and Neon Dreams will also join Milky Chance in Durban (18 February) as support act.

Canadian duo Neon Dreams are no strangers to the South African music scene. Their 2019 single “Life Without Fantasies” reached the top of the South African viral charts amassing millions of streams in 2021 during the lockdown. The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. They have continued to cement themselves in the industry here, having toured the country a number of times over the past few years and return in February 2024 to share the stage with Milky Chance in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Sean Koch is one of SA’s most-loved indie-folk artists who brings a mixed bag of African and western, influence alongside messages of home, a connection to nature, the ocean and the people around him; to his storytelling, feel-good music. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse. From dance infused songs like ‘Lift You Up’ the standout single from his collection (including the Double MZK & G DOM remix) to the dreamier songs like ‘Feel the Energy’ that carry deeper messages of connection to the natural world and the people that surround us. There is something for everyone in Sean’s catalogue.
