Harlem Globetrotters returning to South Africa after almost two decades

The New Zealand based promoter, On The Road Events, regrets to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances the Harlem Globetrotters tour of South Africa has been cancelled.

The Globetrotters, who were scheduled to perform in South Africa in July 2015, are looking forward to performing in South Africa as soon as revised dates have been set.

Customers who have already purchased tickets will be refunded in full, by Computicket. Visit www.computicket.com for information on refunds.

This also means that the competition which has been running on our Durbanite website is officially cancelled. We apologies to all Durbanites and thank each and every entrant for their effort to win.

You have heard of the Harlem Globetrotters before but who exactly are they you ask?

The Harlem Globetrotters are the world’s premiere basketball exhibition team. Founded in 1926 as the Savoy Big Five, the Harlem Globetrotters have since risen in fame and legacy with their sensational skills and exuberance both on court and off. The squad is made up from the world’s most talented male and female athletes who continue to smash their way into the record books while putting on one of the most entertaining shows that the whole family can enjoy. Their passion for the sport is matched only by their heart as they continue to be goodwill ambassadors worldwide. They have visited over 120 countries across the world thrilling crowds with their shows.

The Harlem Globetrotters are returning to South Africa after almost two decades. The US-based exhibition basketball squad is one of the world’s most loved sports teams, bringing a unique blend of athleticism and theatre to the center court. South Africans will get to experience all of this first-hand, starting 1 July.

The Globetrotters are much more than entertainers though, they are a super capable force with hoop skills second to none.  The team have a unique showcase of basketball skills that have found their way into the record books and showmanship that will enthrall the whole family. Take your family during the winter season to see the Globetrotters perform upside down shots, trick shots and passes plus unbelievable slam dunks and three pointers hurled from the opposite side of the court.

    I would love to take my nephew to see this show. He is a huge fan of basketball and especially the Harlem Globetrotters and all the amazing tricks and shots they pull off!
