WIN with White Mountain 2017

Published

on

Now in its 12th year, the annual White Mountain Festival is coming up from 28 September to 1 October 2017 and is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all and unwind in a stunning setting while enjoying a three-day line-up of some of the best acoustic acts in the country.

Known for its intimate, relaxed atmosphere, the festival is held at White Mountain Lodge in the foothills of the Giant’s Castle Nature Reserve, only 185km from Durban and just 25km off the N3 on tarred roads.

Included on the bill are the likes of Crimson House, Luke Lovemore (Top 7 finalist on this yearā€™s season of M-Netā€™s The Voice SA), Jenny & The Jameses, The Sextons, Gunshot Blue, Lendel, Black Whiskey, The Sweet Resistance (fronted by Natasha Meister), Jerry & The Bandits, Luca Hart and Freddy Lalendle, to name a few.

Festival-goers can also look forward to a wide variety of food and drink outlets, colourful arts and crafts, plus loads of outdoor activities for the whole family including fun stuff (like scavenger hunts) for the kids. And thatā€™s not forgetting the lodgeā€™s spacious grounds, fishable dam, swimming pool and charming old stone pub (with satellite TV and late-night live music), which add another dimension to the usual festival experience!

Aside from general camping, which is included in the ticket price, there is also the option of booking into a stylish on-site ā€˜tent hotelā€™, offering a relaxing, hassle-free camping experience with all the comforts of home.

Expect great music, fun times and smiles all around from this gem of a festival.

I really need a time out cos I have been having the worst two weeks ever, started from my pet being knocked to me losing my God mother who also happens to by my heart. Having a car fender bender and a very sick mom, I think I really need some time to recoup and just get my mind back in track with life. It’s been incredibly tough and I am just living day to day at the moment. Please give a one time pass to ultimate relaxation and finding my peace again.

I’ve been hearing so many wonderful things about this festival, yet I’ve never experienced it for myself. I hear that it is a lively, friendly, family atmosphere with good vibes and love all around. I love live music and the idea of an all round, good people, good time, sounds amazing! I would take my boyfriend and our other couple of amazing friends. We are super excited for this!

I don’t have a sob story to spin in order to win these tickets. lets be honest, i could think of something elaborate like my dog ate my homework and then died or its like, totally my birthday and I’ve never been before…truth is iv been a few times so i know just how epic White Mountain is.
You see, times be tough on a Durban salary, lets be honest.
R600 ain’t a lot but I could sure as hell think of a bunch of rad things to do with R600 Mandela’s if i wont these tickets instead of buying them.
    For example;
    1. Get to that point in the festival where everyone is at the bar after the bands are done and shout “drinks on me” . this automatically wins me cool status with everyone for the rest of the festival.
    2. splash out on chow every morning to soak up said nights bar extravaganza.
    3. Buy me a comfy as heck camping mattress so that when i slumber back to my tent i can be like. “ah rad, shot Durbanite, I had the best night evuuur AND i get to crawl onto an inflated epic bed instead of a deflated one like all the previous years”. (lets be honest no-one likes sleeping on the floor)
    4. I can rub it in everyone’s faces that i won tickets from Durbanite and dance around like an obnoxious fairy (I realize that this will damage my cool status but who doesn’t like boasting) please note that this will all be done while throwing my 600 hundies in the air shouting “let it rain” .
5 fill my car up with petrol so i can actually get to said festival – edit – this is the more boring option but as with all adult things in life, necessary. Ill probably still dance around boasting that I won tickets from Durbanite but will most likely throw monopoly money instead.
    6. Buy a shirt that says “rich girl” cause I will actually be a rich girl. – honesty is my best quality.
For real tho, this prize would be so epic! =)

I need these tickets in my life, after the crappy past weeks I’ve had (breakup, moving house, leaving my dog behind and literally have my world flipped upside down) I just want to escape to the mountains with all my favourite people, chill and enjoy everything White Mountain has to offer. I have always wanted to go to White Mountain but was to scared to go alone and my ex never wanted to do cool fun things with me… anyway sad story over…. I just really need happy hippy music artistic vibes in my life to feed my soul <3

Myself and three friends have been wanting to go to White Mountain Festival since we heard about it at the start of the year. There is no better thing than going to a festival with your best mates but since we students, it is a struggle to scramble some money together just to go. This would be a real dream and would love to crack open a could one and listen to some live music with the boys!!

So I am writing this, not for my self (well it kinda would benefit me as i would love more than anything to spend extra time with my parents), but for my parents as I’m still trying to get them to understand they had to comment here and not on facebook, and am petrified they miss the entry.

A little background on my parents, they have pretty much worked their butts of their whole lives to provide for their one and only child ..ME .. Once i left home they had to look for something else to fill the void. I am so proud to say they chose music. They are currently living in PMB and are obsessed with live music. Every Wednesday night for the past two years they visit a place called MITH (Music in the Hills) to watch some of SA’s best and undiscovered artists perform in an open mic environment. It has been so exciting to hear their stories of different bands and singers they have heard. White mountain would be the perfect opportunity for them to watch some of their favorite artists, as well as see some of their bucket list musicians.

I feel at almost 60 and 65 my parents are younger and cooler than ever. They definitely know more about music than me and will without a doubt sit around the bonfires with OBS in hand later than I. They have totally turned into free spirited, music loving teenagers again.

I was fortunate enough to be blessed with a ticket this year and would more than anything love for my parents to win a set of tickets too. Too much to ask? Na, i really feel they deserve this. We have not had a family holiday, let alone a weekend away together in years. At 29 i could not think of anything cooler than going to a music festival with my parents, Mom making early morning tea at the campsite, dad getting the skottle ready for a friend brekie, and us enjoying the fresh air together. My entry is for them, it is for my parents who have sacrificed for 29 years and who still do for me. It is for the early morning school runs and sandwiches packed with love. It is for every sports day they attended no matter how busy they were. It is for every I LOVE YOU whatsapp they send me. It is for my parents, it is for ROBYN and DOUGLAS. PMB’s biggest groupies, and the best parents any child could ever dream of.

    My entry is for them.

I would love to win these tickets so I can take a friend with who has never been to White Mountain so he can experience it and see why it is one of the best music festivals in SA!!

I’m already going to White Mountain this year with family and friends and have had my ticket for months. A work colleague would dearly love to attend with her teenage child but is not sure if she can afford it. It would be inappropriate for me to offer to pay for her tickets, and she would not accept then in any case, but I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if I entered this competition on her behalf, and left the rest to chance.

She has recently celebrated a milestone birthday and needs a reminder that she’s still young. She will be with a group of folk who are sensitive and caring, and who will make sure she and her daughter have a fun, relaxing and safe weekend. I’ll share her contact details if you need to contact her with good news.

I need white mountain in my life.
