WIN: MOTHERS MOVE TO MANGO GROOVE

Published

on

MANGO GROOVE are set to groove Mom’s this Mother’s Day, Sunday, 11 May and we have FIVE DOUBLE TICKETS to give away to FIVE lucky Mom’s. Each ticket is valued at R160. To enter all you need to do is leave a comment below, telling us what you love most about your Mom. *T & C’s apply.

On Mother’s Day, Sunday, 11 May, music lovers can join Mango Groove at the Durban Botanic Gardens to honour and celebrate mothers at the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert.

“As a mother, this is one of the holidays that is nearest and dearest to my heart and I’m happy to spend it with moms and their families, at the garden,” commented Claire Johnston, Mango Groove lead vocalist.

The band’s unique flavour and majestic blend of native South African sounds, such as marabi and kwela, fused with contemporary and pop influences will fill the Durban Botanic Gardens.  The mesh of the pennywhistle, the big brass arrangements, harmonies and gumboot rhythms overlaid with the angelic voice of Johnston results in a sound that is uniquely distinctive.

The Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert series has, in the past, brought world class acts and musicians that coin the word legend such as four time Grammy Award winners, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Johnny Clegg, and Mango Groove is no different.

“Mother’s Day is that extra special occasion we dedicate to pampering and spoiling our selfless caregivers.  It is a celebration honouring mothers, motherhood, maternal bonds and their influence in society. We hope that all our mothers will enjoy the concert and their loved ones join them in making this a memorable occasion,”  said Old Mutual sponsorship manager Bandile Mngoma.

The Old Mutual music concert series continues to contribute to the popularity of outdoor music venues in South Africa.  The Music at the Lake initiative in 2014 will promote the appreciation of our plants and green heritage, and encourages young and old to value botanic gardens such as the Durban Botanic Gardens.

I love that my mom knows everything about me, she is my best friend and my rock and although she doesnt know it, she is very influential in my life. She knows when I am sad and even though I can deny it ’til I am blue in the face, she knows when something is wrong. She gets sympathy pains for me when I am injured and we are always connected. I love everything about my mom even when I dont like her. She is the best.

Mothers day is always a tough time for me as my mom passed away a few years ago. If i won these tickets, I would take my boyfriend’s mom as she has always had time for a chat, make dinner together. laugh and joke around and gives me advice when i need it most. this would be an amazing opportunity to show her how much she means to me.

I would like to win this for my dear friend Najmah, who has been an amazing mother to an adopted child who was diagnosed with ADHD back in 2012. Her dedication and commitment to help him with his behavioural and psychological issues day after day since then has been an inspiration to all of those around her. Because her work has taken the backseat she is now facing financial troubles, I hope this will make her day even more special.

Their 2019 single “Life Without Fantasies” reached the top of the South African viral charts amassing millions of streams in 2021 during the lockdown. The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse.
