GO WiLD at the WaveHouse this Summer

Published

on

GO WiLD at the WaveHouse, is the hottest new venue in Durban where being active and outdoors is celebrated with a host of fun activities for all ages – all under one roof.

Recently launched by Durban Tourism and The WaveHouse Gateway last week, GO WiLD is the ultimate playground you have to visit these holidays, featuring uniquely crafted fun zones for different ages from toddlers, tweens, teenagers and adults.

“GO WiLD is the ultimate playground where you get to be active, have fun and experience the adventure of living,” says creator Nick Leitch. “Families are moving towards a more active healthier lifestyle. Instead of sitting behind a television, mobile or computer, parents want to get their kids out, where they are active and entertained.”

“Active Play is at the heart of GO WiLD, explains Leitch. “Consumers want to do new exciting, entertaining things that bring fun into their lives; they want to feel alive instead of numb behind technology. Exercise and being outdoors has become fun and a novel way to be with friends or spend time with the family.”

According to Sge Mdletshe co-founder of GO WiLD, “The various play zone activities at GO WiLD at the WaveHouse were created using the latest global trends in entertainment as well as using the highest quality materials. We believe that Go WiLD will become a favourite destination venue for active entertainment in KwaZulu-Natal.”

Undercover toddler play zone

The toddler play zone is a carefully crafted adventure the likes of which you have never seen before. Combining slides, climbing activities, ball pools and other fun activities – this zone ensures your toddler is interactive and learning through play. All this comes in one exciting toddler fantasy world which will keep them entertained for hours.

Splashpad

Fun for all ages, the Waterplay Splashpad at GO WiLD is a place for children to jump, splash and have fun in the water. Water comes out of specially designed interactive features to create a fun zone of water rainbows, waterfalls and water play. With water draining away instantly the Splashpad is a zero depth space which has zero risk of drowning.

Pumptrax
Pumptrax are the newest most exciting activity in recreation! The GO WiLD pumptrax uses an up and down ‘pumping’ motion to propel a bicycle, skateboard or scooter forward instead of pedaling or using the feet. It is adrenalin pumping and perfect for concentration, balance, learning skills and improving confidence, not to mention a fun place to hang-out with friends.

The GO WiLD pumptrax was designed by Eben Combrinck of sapumptrax who is a three time SA skateboard champion;  bringing together his passion for boarding  and developing children through play.

Outdoor wave

The outdoor wave is perfect for beginners who want to learn to surf in a safe, fun environment and experienced surfers who just want to have fun. Suitable for children and adults the outdoor wave features a two beach-break wave with flowriders making it exhilarating and challenging enough to learn the basics before hitting the big ocean waves.

The Supertube

Supertubes on your doorstep at GO WiLD at the WaveHouse. The Supertube is fun for kids, teenagers and adults who enjoy the adrenalin rush of 180m of pure water tubing excitement. The ride begins with a lift to the top before dropping into a funnel for a ride of complete darkness; supertube riders then drop into translucent tubing which finally transports them into an open flume.

Ella Bella Café

This family restaurant is the ultimate venue to relax, sip cocktails or watch sport on the big screen. Featuring a halaal bar and great food, the Ella Bella Café provides you with a sociable place to gather with friends or family.

Events

GO WiLD will continue to have action all year round featuring events and concerts from the country’s top talent to spectacular events staged at this hi-tech venue.

Parties
GO WiLD will also be creating memorable birthday party experiences making it the hottest venue in Durban to celebrate special occasions while having active fun! There are limited party rooms so you need to book early to ensure availability on your child’s special day.

Milky Chance recently announced their long-awaited return to South Africa with their “Living In A Haze” tour in February 2024 which will see them perform in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The German Duo are excited to confirm that both Neon Dreams and Sean Koch will join them as support acts on the line-up for their shows in Cape Town (15 February) and Johannesburg (17 February), and Neon Dreams will also join Milky Chance in Durban (18 February) as support act.

Canadian duo Neon Dreams are no strangers to the South African music scene. Their 2019 single “Life Without Fantasies” reached the top of the South African viral charts amassing millions of streams in 2021 during the lockdown. The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. They have continued to cement themselves in the industry here, having toured the country a number of times over the past few years and return in February 2024 to share the stage with Milky Chance in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Sean Koch is one of SA’s most-loved indie-folk artists who brings a mixed bag of African and western, influence alongside messages of home, a connection to nature, the ocean and the people around him; to his storytelling, feel-good music. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse. From dance infused songs like ‘Lift You Up’ the standout single from his collection (including the Double MZK & G DOM remix) to the dreamier songs like ‘Feel the Energy’ that carry deeper messages of connection to the natural world and the people that surround us.
